How is it the opposite of limited programming? Netflix has thousands of garbage shows and movies and my disposal for $20/month. Paying $20/month to watch 15ish Pens games would be ridiculous. Regardless, I'll just continue using my $60/year VPN to change my location and watch Pens games through my like $8/month ESPN+ prescription.
162 games is a lot of content

I saw an article saying NESN may get the rights to Pirates and Pens games next year. Also saw that they charge $30/month now for sports only subs.

While the cost is outrageous, it's justifiable. I remember reading years back that the majority of your cable bill is to pay for these RSN channels and other sports channels. Something near 50% of all cable monies go to them.

Not sure if I'd do it or not at $25/month. It's far less than cable, which if you were only getting cable to get Pens/Pirate games, that's a steal.

ATTSN Pittsburgh is one of the most expensive RSNs in the country at about $4.50/month per subscriber. Now, that cost to the viewer is scaled because not everyone with ATTSN Pittsburgh in their cable package is a viewer despite paying for it, but that amount is still a hell of a long way from $20, $25, or $30 a month.

Checking in on the overall stats for spring training.

https://www.mlb.com/pirates/stats/at-bats

Rodolfo having a terrible time, thinking he could easily lose his spot on the opening day roster to the likes of Drew Maggi or Chris Owings (I think those two can play second), as Bae and Marcano are also ****.

Suwinski and Cruz are both looking pretty good, the former with some K issues, but drawing walks, so he still has good OBP.

Getting rid of the shift isn't helping Santana's batting average. Still walking a lot, and will hit homeruns, so he's not going to kill them. Just a guy at this point.

Swaggerty and Nick Gonzalez both having good springs, lookis like they are at least joining what I'll call the "cluster". That being the group of system guys on the 40-man that are lingering in a grouping that I don't think anyone can tell whether or not they need more playing time, AAA time, or they are just not worth anything. Currently residing in this group - Mitchell, Castro, Suwinski, Bae, Marcano, Canaan, definitely Swaggerty, and maybe Gonzalez. Some of these guys need to create some separation, they will likely have to bounce 3-4 of them off the 40-man this year, hoping that the group can at least make it an easy decision. If they had to make that decision right now, it would be playing the lottery.

As for the pitching staff. They are getting smashed around pretty bad, but a few of them have very encouraging BB and K numbers. Looking like they will cause a lot of grief this year, and that's the only prediction I feel confident about.

You're way lower on Gonzales than I am. plenty of upside still there. I'm expecting a breakout year for him

The (projected) starters seem to be putting up decent numbers, but they are now just ramping up to 5 innings per game. I'd assume the numbers will start uh correcting once hitters get 2-3x more ABs. Relievers have been **** on though.

Keller, Bru, Dick Mountain have been good to decentish.

Well, there was chatter on Santana as a guy that would benefit from the shift, so I think it's at least one thing to consider when looking at his 30 PAs. But otherwise, I wouldn't have interest in how Carlos and the other vets are doing.

I am mostly curious how the cluster is doing, those guys are all directly competing with one another and their ST performance will likely have some impact on the opening day roster.

Santana left yesterday's game, and appeared to be in some pain. Maggi hit a couple of bombs replacing him fwiw.

also, I do really hope we can't read into ST numbers, this year in particular because Blake Sabol is absolutely raking for the Giants.

I don't see how Suwinski is included in the same list as the rest of those scrubs.

ST numbers have more impact on fringe prospects trying to make the team. They're actually trying. Veterans? They're just going through the motions

.200 BA and sub .300 OBP last year. His overall slash line was respectable because of the HR total. There's not a lot of space between him and unplayable if he goes in the other direction this year..

Actually, Kevin Newman is the most boring person of all time, per me.

He even has the name to match. Sounds totally made up.

What's the purpose of 20 seconds with runners on? If it's to help the pitcher then the batter should never get in the box until 8 seconds right? It's probably for signs? Either way I'd think batters should wait until 8 seconds to help the runner if they're a threat to steal
