Local Philly news just promoted the afternoon game as the “St. Louis Cardinals and the surprising this year Pittsburgh Pirates.”

It's on Peacock.

Edit: Correction, Peacock is showing a condensed version of, I'm guessing, yesterday's game.

I don't see it on today.

Edit 2: Correction. It is on Peacock and starts at 11:30am as someone mentioned above.

Also a reminder og why this new NHL style schedule blows. I love playing divisional games. It's like the SECOND it just means more.

I kind of like the new schedule and didn't think I would. I've had my fill seeing the same central division teams every year.

Yohan Ramirez's emergence has made me feel better about this pen. Moreta seems to be legit. So with holderman, that looks like three legit setup options. And Hernandez isn't too shabby as the rule 5 lefty

Would like a little extra infield help to avoid the Owings/Mathias/whatever bum rotation they'll have for a while

I think Holderman has endurance issues. I think they need to move to more of a committee for the 8th inning role.

Just took a peak forward to see what the arbitration situation is for 2024, things are kind of ridiculous. Here's the list of pre-arbitration players for 2024 (not counting yet-to-debut prospects):

Castro, Cruz, Suwinski, Joe, Delay, Bae, Marcano, Ortiz, Contreras, Oviedo, Moreta, Hernandez, Holderman.

Arbitration eligible is just Keller, Bednar, and Ramirez and under contract (assuming they don't pick Jarlin's option) Hayes and Reynolds to just over 17mm. Keller and Bednar will get big raises, but that's over 2/3 of your roster, and essentially the core coming in at under 40mm.

Going to continue cause '24 is definitely a "compete" year for the organization. Couple of things stick out with the current roster construction.

I think the bench looks like Delay, Bae, Joe, and Castro/Marcano (ideally the 2B platoon). You should bring McCutchen back as the DH, and you gotta think that at some point Davis and Rodriguez are playing key roles, but depending on how the year goes, they may need another Hedges type to be the primary catcher. They also may need another 1B, unless something unforeseen happens (like Davis/Rodriguez move there). They also really need to figure out what to do with the 40-man LH outfielder blob (Swaggerty, CSN, Mitchell, and now Palacios). I think they all need a sink or swim stint before they year is out for one last look, but otherwise, I think you have to cut bait with all of them.

The rotation is going to cost money. Shelton and BC are full Joker mode right now with Roansy, Ortiz, and Oviedo taking regular turns. They are relying on a 43 year old Hill for length. But if somehow those three just sort of work it out, then you can look at Bednar and Keller and ask "how much? But remember this is Pittsburgh and we expect you take a discount."

Had an enjoyable afternoon in Curve, PA today, despite them wearing Yinzers uniforms. My kid was pumped to run the bases after the game. I forgot what a nice/affordable ballpark it is.
