So yeah, I think I need to spend more time with the camera, perhaps even taking it on vacation this summer, before deciding what to do with the D750. I took a few random shots around the house and in the backyard, and the Sony is clearly a little behind, and darker - which I was actually surprised by, given that it's a mirrorless. I guess that speaks more to the D750, though.
Sorry to hear that. When you say darker, do you mean the lcd screen? Or are the images it produces darker? I don't know how much you can tweak the settings on Sony's. Hopefully it'll be things you can work around. There's always an adjustment period, even from model to model let alone switching brands.

I had to photograph a dance studio this week and the LCD touch screen on my z6 would randomly not work. No idea why as the camera's barely used. It seemed to mostly straighten out as the days went on though. Hopefully it doesn't croak on me. If it would, I'd probably pick up a used D800 or D810. They're relatively cheap.
The produced images are a little darker. The LCD screen is incredibly bright, which is awesome. That said, in post I was able to get the photos pretty close to one another. My D750/24-70 seems a little sharper @ 70, but I'm trying not to pixel peep. I do love that the Sony has this built in tilt display on the screen so that you can actually level off your shot - that'll come in handy.

Gonna take it to my daughter's soccer game this weekend and see how it does outdoors and with people in motion. If the AF is as fast as has been reviewed, that would be a big win.

On your z6, if you liked it enough, I bet you could have the LCD repaired/replaced for less than the cost of a D8xx.

I'm not a big fan of watermelon. If it is fresh and sweet, I enjoy it, but often it is not sweet enough. I absolutely don't like anything that is watermelon flavored.

I prefer honeydew and cantaloupe over watermelon, but again it's hard to find that happy medium of being just ripe and sweet enough or else it tastes bad.
You need to come to the parties I'm at where everyone eats all the good stuff and leaves honeydew and cantaloupe

@AuthorTony: Beautiful, sunny day here, so I brought the Sony with me to my daughter's soccer game. Nearly every photo is overexposed, and all of them are soft. The LCD doesn't accurately reflect what the resulting image looks like (shooting RAW), which makes it difficult to determine whether or not I need to change something (like switch to P and lower exposure compensation). The camera has a lot of great features, but man, I am really disappointed in the quality of the photos so far. I may wind up re-listing this on eBay.

Man, that sucks. I wouldn't blame you at all for selling it. I mean, maybe it could be overcome with more testing and experimenting to figure out all of the camera's quirks, but you have to wonder if it's worth the effort.

Yeah, I'm still going to play around with it and see if I can make this work, but I was really hoping that I could get away with just using Auto and letting things go. But now I have to monkey with P mode and hope that I can get the exposure close enough so that highlights aren't blown out. It has a meter, so I can use that, but man I just do not have to do any of this with the D750. That thing just takes great photos no matter what.

The bigger issue is how soft the photos are. Not one single sharp photo from today, not even one of my cat on our dining room table (white tablecloth liner) where the room was bright as hell. Even that was soft. I looked at some similar photos I took last week with the D750 and the difference is night and day.

You shouldn't use P mode. That's reserved for Professionals only. ;)

The softness is really weird though. Do you think it's a shutter speed issue or the lens? Seems like the ss should be pretty high in bright conditions though, especially on auto.

Definitely shutter speed, IMO. f/5, 1/250, ISO 125 and the entire photo is soft, with all white parts of the jerseys overexposed.

I remember going to Trax Farms with my grandpa when I was a kid and picking strawberries. So much better when eaten right from the vine.

And loved that apple cider.

Ah, okay. Yeah, that's definitely pushing it for 1/250. The auto mode definitely seems wonky to go down that low on a sunny day. I'd be annoyed too.

Amazing that Bob Capa only ended up with 10 or 11 usable images from Omaha that day. Processing error destroyed 3 or 4 entire rolls of film.

Wife is done with school, so we no longer are waking up at 5 am and in bed by 9:30. It's like I don't know what to do with the extra 2+ hours I'm awake.
