With the new work from home thing being a real possibility to be a longterm thing, we're looking at a test as well. My wife is all set up in the basement with her desk and computer and everything, I'm looking at something small for our spare bedroom. Might just buy a cheapo from amazon or something and call it quits as I'm currently on a card table.
I picked up an old smaller wood desk that was at our campus surplus sale for $5. Gonna sand down and paint.

If my daughter goes the online route for school, I'm going to have her use her art desk downstairs so that she's not inclined to sit in front of the TV with the Chromebook in her lap.

Herman Miller’s really are the best.

The film editing studio we used to use had them in the editing suites.

Our **** smack of a senior portfolio manager had the company drop 5k on a new office chair for him and then within a month demanded a 10k standing desk.

For our home office we normally just put desks in the spare bedroom and call it a day. We've had 7 mailing addresses since 2010, so we never saw the use in doing anything custom. But this is our 'forever home', and so with the way things are and how they are shaping up going forward, we're actually considering putting some cash into converting our space into a bespoke office.

Huh. I had no idea she was from Pittsburgh. I know her because she played one of the doctors on ER for a while, and I was a fan of that show when it was on. Among many other roles, she voiced Mulan in the original Disney animated version, she was briefly on The Mandalorian, and she has a long-running role on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Garmin still completely shut down over 24 hours later. Man, I can only imagine what life is like for their InfoSec guys right now.

https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/07/2 ... re-attack/
Garmin's servers and factories have been shut down for about 24 hours at press time, since July 23. To deal with the issue, the company is entering a maintenance mode for multiple days, which is why all of its services currently remain offline. This means that it's impossible to sync progress with the company's servers, so if you're itching to share your latest run on Strava, you'll have to be patient over the weekend. More severely, pilots relying on flyGarmin currently can't lift off, as the FAA requires them to use the latest database when navigating.

I'm sure Peleton bikes are nice, but I just bought a spin bike off of Amazon for around 300$ and will serve me just as well as a Peleton. If I really want to take part in a "class" ill put on a youtube video while I'm riding.

Sadly my Garmin Forerunner 610 **** the bed this morning. It started doing a constant boot loop while on the charger at like 4am and is dead. It did this before a few weeks ago but I don't think it's coming back this time. It did well, though. I've had it for something like 6-8 years. I actually *just* threw away my 410 during the move, which I used when I was in the military.

I've been wanting a new one, particularly one that could sync directly to wifi on its own. But it's always lame having your hand forced.

You arent cool unless you are wearing your Lululemon bike shorts on your Peloton.

And those shorts will cost you nearly half of what the Peloton does...
