For how often I access stuff like that, no way would I want to have to continually go to a bank.

Don't trust big banks or small banks. Banks are Ponzi schemes run by morons.

I keep stuff like that in a fire box at home, and don’t know anyone who actually uses a safety deposit box anymore.

Two things made me chuckle a bit on my lunch break today...

1. I stopped by Barnes & Noble as it's the only place with decent coffee (Starbucks) on my work's side of town. I just got a large coffee and the lady asked for my name. Now, I thought to myself "why do you need my name? by the time I'm done paying with my card and the whole chip thing, you'll have it poured and you can just hand it to me..." but I'm a very non-confrontational person, especially with retail/customer service type of people, so I give her my name. I pay and step to the side and the next guy gets to the counter. He orders the exact same thing and she asks for his name. Dude just shakes his head no... She asks, "Name, sir?" He says, "Right there's the coffee, all you're going to do is pour it into my cup and hand it to me. You don't need my name." If he wasn't as aggressive about it, it would have made me laugh a bit more.

2. Drove by a cemetery that had a sign in front of it with 3 different numbers with percent signs after them. I thought "surely, they're not advertising for...." Sure enough. 15% off plots, 20% off funerals, and 30% off cremations! Hurry in for this limited time offer!!!

Plots and funerals I can sort of understand, as it's common to buy those years in advance (more so with plots I think). But does one pre-pay for a cremation? Do they offer a lay away plan? (Which would kind of be ironic phrasing, if you think about it)

Re: Giving names.

One time at an establishment where name is required, I was being served by a nice girl...she asked for my name and I said, "daddy"...when my order came out, I did not respond right away...so in this crowded place, she is just asking in a raised voice for "daddy" ...after the third call out I came and grabbed it...

Was I drunk? Probably. Didn't give me some cheap laughs at the minimal expense of others...? Yes.

Oh, I meant, "did it" not "didn't"...sorry, I didn't go to bed til like 2:30 last night...I can't type...

She actually found it funny, it seemed like even "played along", so to speak...I think everyone had a great time in that 8 seconds...that's not the first time I've said that phrase either...

In a real life scenario, it absolutely is...and is not something I would do as a matter of ordinary course...in any room of my apartment...

One of my lab mate's name was Subhasis... we all called him Soob, but when we'd go to places that required a name he'd just say "S". The one german place in town (that has since shut down... RIP) had a guy that would always come out and say "The mysterious man known as S..."

In college I was waiting to get a wrap in the food court that required names, and this one kid in front of me put down Romeo as his name. The lady calling out the name realized what he was doing and yelled at him. I've avoided using fake names ever since I saw that.
