Can someone explain Joe Rogan and/or Dave Rubin? because I don't get it. At least the former has some cache in that he's not terrible at stand-up but holychrist is Dave Rubin a mile wide dullard

Looking up at the clock, I now realize that I've spent the last 4+ hours writing PowerShell scripts, and my eyes feel like they're going to pop out of my head.

You you have a vertical monitor?

No, and I don't really like that layout, as I gave it a try a year or so ago. My monitors are big enough that I don't need to go that route.

It's odd in that the only environment I ever would've had that layout make sense (monitoring an IRC window in a command center) I never thought to do it.

The fact that you even mentioned this surprises me. I had never even thought of a vertical monitor layout until about 2 months ago when I saw somebody on my floor with it. He uses it for e-mail.

My understanding is that it's mostly for coders. And stockbrokers/money managers go nuts for vertical multi-monitor setups.

I don't think I'd classify myself as a coder, personally. PowerShell and the like is one thing, but these monkeys who are developing websites and such, they're coders.

I never thought to use it for e-mail. That's intriguing. I'm going to give it a shot. I think it'll all break down the first time I go to use that monitor for anything else, but it would help a ton when I have to dig through archives to find an earlier solution to a problem that has popped back up.

That's exactly why the experiment only lasted a few hours for me. With high resolution monitors these days, I don't see the benefit being worth it.

Also good for redlining documents.

I saw a blind woman with a seeing eye dog stopped at a green light on my walk to work this morning. It wasn't until the dog looked over and saw me crossing that he guided the woman across, as well. I wonder if they're trained to wait for people before crossing, because in this city, that could spell disaster.

This is pretty cool. Some of the sounds in Mortal Kombat are what you least expect them to be.

I'm pretty sure Tom Sturgis Pretzels out of Lancaster are the best store bought pretzels you can get. They are incredible.

Woot's customer service is great... distilled conversation:

Me: "Hey, I got this thing I ordered, but I received the wrong color. How do I go about exchanging this?"
Woot: "We don't have the correct color in stock anymore. Here's how you can return it and we'll give you a refund."
Me: "Well, I still want to have the item, so if you don't have the correct thing in stock, I suppose I'll keep this."
Woot: "Glad I could help solve the problem. Have a great day."

Really? No x% off my next order? No freebies at all? Just "I'm glad you'll settle for something other than what you ordered, f*ck off."?
