Well, yeah. I'm now wondering what can be done, legally, if they find that this couple spent all of the money themselves.

I wonder how easily a "defrauding investors" charge can be made in a crowdsourcing fundraiser.

I think misrepresentation might be a way to go. Which type, not sure.

So people are upset by this Colin Kaepernick thing, huh? What am I missing...

He was on a suggestively-worded Nike ad...is there anything more to it that I'm not seeing...?

Some white people are mad because they're racist and stupid. That is about it.

**** man...first I thought it was Wednesday and then I didn't realize I was supposed to hate Nike gear (?) because a bad quarterback with an afro is supported by it...what a day...

I’m surprised that Nike wanted an athlete that can’t hang at his sports highest level

This was my thought. Nike is taking the route ESPN went down in putting story ahead of substance. Which is fine. They're a private company and entitled to do whatever, doesn't affect me at all.

If Kaepernick had worthy arm talent he'd have never lost his job in the first place. But if that was the case and the Niners cut him over the noise, he'd have been picked up by now. The kneeling thing is literally the least he can do, but in so doing it puts the focus on himself rather than the issue he's trying to highlight. I know not a single person who talks about black people being shot by police when the name Colin Kaepernick is mentioned. And that is why he remains unemployable. There's no grand conspiracy among the team owners here; he's not worth the mess.

That said, it is worth noting that kneeling alongside his teammates during the anthem was actually suggested to him by a combat vet Green Beret as a non-offensive alternative to just sitting on the bench, as he did at the outset of his 'protest'.

Well said, tif.

My only issue with the CK thing is that he didn't start protesting until he was on his way into obscurity. He was already relegated to backup duty when he started sitting on the bench.

My issue with the Nike ad is "sacrifice everything". I saw a report today that said his net worth is $20 million. Sounds like he sacrificed everything alright.

Not that you're suggesting it (or are you), but I don't think he decided "hey, I'm having a shitawful season, I need something to get back into the spotlight" and started the protesting.

A guy backed into my Jeep this morning. We were both waiting to exit the Autozone parking lot (he was in the lead) and he suddenly shifted into reverse and hit me. He was a pretty old guy, and trying to locate a doctor's office nearby. I felt bad for him. I put a steel bumper on my Wrangler 2 years ago and can't even see a scratch on it. The tailgate of his pickup fared less well.

Outside of Ted Cruz (he’s the Zodiac killer), that was outstanding.

Leaving Nags Head en route for Red Bank, NJ for this wedding. In all my life I will never have a week of beach weather like we had this week. Impossibly perfect every day, with water temps in the low 80s. This is the worst day of the year :(

Fellow 5AF colleague @Malkintent gets a huge shoutout for hosting our goldendoodle all week :thumb:
