I don't want to talk in the TV thread because it makes it seem like I have/like TV...so here's this...

What was the first TV show that you can recall using flashbacks and/or cutaways to the joke a la Family Guy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Scrubs, The Simpsons, etc. ? Possible sidebar, who popularized it?

Do it on an island, though, just to be safe.
And to double down on the safety, in extremely unlikely instance that things go tits up on that isle, there should be a second facility - retcon, er, I mean call it 'Site B', to avoid confusion.
Will either facility to be on an island with an active volcano?

Nope, because there's no active volcano on Kauai Isla Nublar.

That's a tough one. All of those are good. Friends did it. Throw in Arrested Development. While not focused on a joke, Twin Peaks to an extent.

Boy, is the answer Laugh-In? That's not really the intent of my question, but it may kind of qualify, no?

But there was one on the Isla Nublar off the coast of Costa Rica. Did you not see Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom?

You could make a compelling case that Monty Python's Flying Circus was nothing but 30 minutes of cut-away gags.

Animaniacs and the HBO show Dream On did this a lot, and that was early 90s.

Yeah, that's why I didn't like my thought on Laugh-In...those are sketch comedies, I don't think that counts...

The Simpsons pre-dates Animaniacs I presume...

Golden Girls
Yup, they used the flashbacks a lot. I particularly enjoyed the Rose flashbacks to growing up in St. Olaf.

While going through old boxes in my basement, I found my original DOD Death Metal pedal. I haven't picked it up in probably 5 years, but I think I'm going to finally restring my guitar and get back into habit of annoying people in my house by playing Metallica and Slayer at 11.

I think I've heard it in the real world.

I've moved on from that to "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" in RL

Claims are now being accepted for the Equifax data breach: For most of us, it means either $125 in cash, or 4 years of credit monitoring through Experian, plus an extra 6 years of monitoring through Equifax if you'd like ( ). I'll probably opt for the monitoring given the length.

Thanks for that. The $125 pre-paid card will go straight to my Amazon account.

You can get another $125 if you've spent 10 hours dealing with the issue. I may go that route instead, since I easily surpassed that with simply checking credit card statements every month, running credit reports, etc.
