The trim work alone would lead me to paying somebody to do it, personally.

This. Laying full planks is easy. Cutting for the edges is a nightmare for someone like me. And then nailing/gluing the trim. I hate that part.

I've changed out all of the flooring in my house over the last decade. The worst part of putting in any lvp/laminate flooring is moving all the furniture, etc. Putting in the floor itself is easy peasy.

I'm considering putting tile down in the bathroom over the winter. Now that scares the crap out of me.

Good stuff. I’m not worried about any of that. I’ve done enough big projects that I feel very confident about my ability to do it, but, like…I just don’t want to.

I don't mind baseboard trim. Crown moulding though... man, that took years off my life.

I just don't want to do that work anymore, hence why pay somebody to do it for me.

I could do the trim - just need a brad nailer, miter saw and some caulking. Like meow said, not worth my time anymore.

i wathced an episode of this old house where they laid tile, and that was enough for me. no way in hell i'd subject myself to that.

I really enjoyed remodeling last winter. I put new lvp in multiple rooms, then converted two bedrooms into one, taking down a wall, the ceilings, walls, etc. I did all the work myself aside from hanging the drywall ceilings. It was a lot of work, but pretty satisfying.

I can definitely see why others wouldn't want to bother though. It's very time consuming and hour for hour I'd have likely been ahead to pay a contractor.

Also, battery powered nailers are one of the best things ever made.

I put down new tile floors in our powder room this spring. Home Depot was out of the rectangles that I wanted, but my wife and I both liked some hexagon shaped tiles. How hard could it be? Answer: very, very difficult.

I derive no measure of enjoyment from any form of manual labor.

That's where I'm at. With two kids, a job, etc., I will stick to smaller projects around the house.

Yeah, that would take me twice as long (at least) and look terrible. Very little skill with that sort of thing. Plus, I'd have to buy tools/saws etc.

We had a fire/water repair company install new tile after our HVAC leaked and destroyed the laminate in the kitchen. They did a rush job a day before Thanksgiving back in 2017, and now some of the tiles are loose and grout cracked. The tile that was installed in 2007 when the house was built looks like new, but the 4 year old tile looks awful. Ugh. Dreading having to get that repaired/replaced whatever down the road.

I really tried to get into it, and I came to terms over the pandemic that I would be a one star contractor.

I can do some basic stuff around the house like replacing outlets and faucets, but when it comes to demo'ing a room or laying floor, I'll leave that ish to the pros.

It is. A short list of things that mrs meow and I have done
Re-sided our entire first house
Gutted and redid the kitchen
Gutted and redid the bathroom
Waterproofed basement
Built a 16 ft entertainment center
Painted two dozen rooms

I just don’t feel like doing anything like this anymore.

On a scale of 1 to Dennis Reynolds, my impatience with other drivers is at about a 7 and it’s becoming problematic.

I used to live somewhere where I never went on any roads over 25, so there were no issues with dimwits not knowing the speed limit. I moved out to PA with more open roads and it turns out that people are god damned idiots who have no clue what the speed limit is at any time.

1. Is that LVP?
2. Why the bold cherry color?
We're about to drop some LVP on our first floor. Figured it would be a good option for all the rooms, including the kitchen. You have any experience with it?
I was an arbitrator on a case involving LVP. Make sure then the underlying floor is perfectly flat. If it is a cement floor check and see how evenly it has settled on different sides of each joint.

I would like it if the lazy, cowardly admins of 5AF would enable the feature.
