I always get amazed at the power behind these trucks and the balls of the drivers.

I wish I was old enough in 1992 to appreciate Marisa Tomei in her time.

She’s still in her prime imo.

I dove in and bought a bunch of coral (zoas and polyps) for my saltwater tank. My triggerfish immediately started nipping at the polyps, so I hope he calms the **** down and leaves them alone once he realizes that they aren't food. He seems to be leaving the zoas alone, which is great.

Was it tough to corral the coral?

New company let go a couple people that were near invaluable to the organization with what they did daily. Now there's something like a power vacuum response because we have no one Togo to for certain needed pieces of daily function.

It's part a realignment by the new owners but they literally looked at these people's titles and made a call to let them go from across the country.

So frustrating.

About ten years ago, I was working at a small-ish software publisher when the parent company decided it would be neat to lay off half the staff. It was sort of arbitrary, and the move was forced on management without any real notice or analysis. I was in the middle of a pretty big project that had been deemed essential to the way they were revamping the business, but the parent company didn't care; my position had been created less than a year prior, so how important could it be? Well, the in-house attorney - my boss, who was not privy to the decision prior to my being told - went to the company president and was like, "You realize Tif is doing that thing, right?" So the president made the unilateral decision to come to my desk while I was packing my things and ask me if I'd be willing to stay on until I completed that project. That was fun. It was during this time that I learned how fun it was to annoy my cubicle neighbors by shooting rubber bands off the ceiling over their desks and bouncing them down on their heads. No, I was not super motivated to work myself into unemployment.

My last day there ended up being the Friday before Superb Owl XLIII, so that was good. One of my coworkers went out and got a couple of hockey pucks and had everyone in the office autograph them for me as a token, and I've taken those pucks with me to every job I've had since.

Our company just got busted colluding with their competitor to not hire away employees to keep salaries low. This should be interesting.
