I assume this is not the Fez in Aliquippa but also like stepping back 40 years in time.
It was indeed. Quite an experience.

First wedding I've been to that allowed shots. I'm hurting bad today.

This may sound weird, but I stopped drinking at weddings and just **** dance the entire time. The best is when I don't really know the people at the wedding and turn it to 11 in front of a bunch of strangers, take over the wedding and walk out knowing I changed lives.

I'm normally much better behaved. Approximately 14 gin and tonics and 5 shots of Goldschlager later...

At least@mikey will be proud of me

Never had a good experience with tuxes there. Been in 3 weddings, all 3 from there, had 2 fully refunded for various tailoring issues that weren’t corrected and weee visible in the wedding photos. Still got a free suit with each.

Does that help in a wedding? Don't you need a matching tux for be part of a wedding?

I feel so bad judging people for having bad weddings... because I know how much they cost... but the one I went to yesterday was baaaaaad.

First off, it was a Sunday morning wedding. Yeah, IDK...
Anyway, it's at an event center. So ceremony and reception at the same place. Invitation says Ceremony at 10:30, cocktail hour and brunch reception to follow. So we decided to go to the ceremony which was probably a mistake (being that we had out kid w/ us, but whatever). Ceremony lasts like 6 minutes and you can't hear anything. All of a sudden we hear cheering and like 'welp they're married'.

Go to find our seats and find out that basically the wedding reception is split in two... literally like 150 people in one building and 120 in another. With a screen set up in the second side so these peasants can see what's going on in the main hall. lol. Then we presume that the cocktail hour would end at 11:30 or so, and brunch would start at noon. NOPE. Cocktail hour was actually >2 hours... per the schedule. The hors douerves were pretty bad and the cookie table was ransacked within like 20 minutes. Mainly, because everyone came expecting 'brunch' and probably didn't bother eating breakfast. So we hang out until 1:00 at which point the wedding party arrives (back from their limo ride around town I guess). Then they start to announce them and the speakers aren't working. So they take a half hour break and move the guitar player (who played the music at the ceremony) speakers inside and get the mic hooked up to them. Side note there was no DJ just some random guy emceeing the event before a band played later. So another half hour intermission before they get announced. Then it's time for the first dance which is a 15 minute choreographed dance routine. Then time to cut the cake. And on to the terrible drunk best man speech who rambled about losing his bro and not being able to pound bud lights late at night anymore. Finally we get to eat (naturally lil mac falls asleep in my arms about 5 mins prior). But it's a buffet style and they have about 150 people crammed into this hall that should have about 4 less tables than it does, so it's a maze to get to the buffet line. We finally ate our 'brunch' around 2:45 in the afternoon. It was literally brunch too...lol... bacon, sausage, eggs, and then some dinner specialties. After they have a band there that plays so loud that basically everyone goes and stands outside in this courtyard and then the mother of the groom goes to the bathroom balling because no one is inside for the rest of the wedding festivities.

Photos.

Because they must be taken immediately following the ceremony when you're emotionally drained and everyone is waiting. Would be crazy to do them literally any other day. ;)

lol yeah true.. oh.. the bride changed into a tighter fitting dress to do their dance routine, and then the photographer yelled at her for doing so, so she changed BACK into the wedding gown for the rest of the day. lol

Yeah, I know mac has to be more practical, I but I would've left about 15 minutes after arriving and finding out that I've been placed in another room. You invited me for the gift, you got it, see you later.

We weren't thinking about just weddings when we decided to buy.

One of the bummers we've had was when we first set out tux shopping, we found an Armani at Nordstrom Rack for around $600. We both thought that was a bit much to spend for a tux, but as we were driving home we both thought it would be more silly not to buy it at that price. So we turned around and went back, and in that 20-minute period someone else bought it.

That sounds like a total cluster.

In retrospect, allowing shots at the wedding I was at was a bad idea, but not just for the obvious reason. You had a TON of people out by the bar doing shots with friends instead of on the dance floor.

Not my jam, but I do know someone that's been on TV sitting next to celebs like 40+ times for being a seat filler. She's done the Oscars, Emmys, Grammys, Golden Globes.... According to her, most super duper celebs are pretty cool about it and many have proactively chatted her up (especially the British stars; she has particularly high praise for Kate Winslet, who actually remembered her name at a different ceremony when my friend was sat next to her twice the same season, as if I needed another reason to swoon for Kate....). The ones that are almost universally jerks are upper-tier TV stars, or B-list movie people.

Granted, this is a very unique and limited sample set.
