I’m at the DMV submitting my Real ID verification documents, and was told that they only accept checks and money orders. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that PA is still a century behind.
Yeah, it's **** up. There have been years where the only check I wrote all year was to PennDOT.

Checks and money orders? What the actual fart.

I don’t need to pay anything today, but at least the store next door does money orders for a buck. Still absurd, though.

Aside from my HOA, I can't think of anything where I would need to write a check.

I honestly cannot recall the last time I wrote a check. I remember having to make a special trip to my bank (actually, credit union) to have new checks printed because I needed to supply one for direct deposit.

Nice, apparently only a handful of drivers license centers in the entire state will be able to provide Real IDs. That makes total **** sense.

Real ID isn't going to be mandatory for things like air travel for another 12-18 months or something like that. Is that situation temporary or ongoing?

PennDOT is in the process of retrofitting six of its existing driver's license centers to allow for over-the-counter issuance of REAL ID (Williamsport, Wilkes-Barre, Rockview in Centre County, Erie, Altoona and South 70th Street in Philadelphia) and adding five new locations in the following regions: Pittsburgh, King of Prussia, Allentown, Harrisburg, and Lancaster
Most of these locations make zero sense.

Nearly all of my checks come from my credit union bill payer service.

The only checks I've written in the past five years were for daycare. The new before/after care center has a payment kiosk that takes credit cards.

i write one a month for mortgage. the bank I pay it to only accepts electronic payment if your bank account is with them. I should probably just open one with them and get it over with

I write one check every 3 months for my water bill. They will accept credit card payments, but I'm not paying the $7 fee if I can just drop off a check on the way to work.

We can pay our rent online, and we have a $7 fee as well. So dumb. We just drop off a check instead.

Open an account and just EFT money from your real checking account every month. (But only if the account is free)

Kids stupid school requires checks for anything you have to pay for. Just wrote one today for $10 for a t shirt. No cash no cards.
