Hamilton is coming to ATL. I looked up tickets and the only ones available are $823 (for 2) which includes $120 in fees. GTFO. no show (especially a touring show) is worth that much money.

In a few more years, the hype will be dead and the show will actually be affordable for the everyday man. I'll wait til then.

Look into the lottery. My daughter won and got front row seats for $20 each. Seriously.Hamilton is coming to ATL. I looked up tickets and the only ones available are $823 (for 2) which includes $120 in fees. GTFO. no show (especially a touring show) is worth that much money.

I've got the app for the lottery. ATL isn't active yet but when we get closer to the run I'll check it regularly.

at least on Broadway you (hopefully) got original cast/stars. very rarely in a touring production do you get top end talent. we were lucky when we saw Wicked a few years ago. the actress who played Elphaba was incredible!I paid much more than that on Broadway

imo paying 700+ for Hamilton is more of a status symbol than wanting to see the show. I'd wager half the people that did it have never had any interest in seeing a play before they wentIn a few more years, the hype will be dead and the show will actually be affordable for the everyday man. Half of the school districts in our area closed today, along with dance class, due to weather. We had a few flurries for about 10 minutes late morning, and some drizzling rain later. Dafuq?

Probably... I couldn't care less about having it as a notch my bedpost, so to speak. I'd rather go and see it for the entertainment value.imo paying 700+ for Hamilton is more of a status symbol than wanting to see the show. Tonight's episode of Jeopardy was historically terrible.

There are less burdensome ways to be showy with your money. Are there people doing it to be seen, or to just say they've seen the show? Sure. But I can't imagine it's a significant number.imo paying 700+ for Hamilton is more of a status symbol than wanting to see the show. In my little orbit, I know probably 11 or 12 people who have seen it, and they're all pretty hardcore theater junkies, like double digit number of shows a year for a few of them.... in fact, as I think about it in probably half the cases it was membership in the venue's 'frequent flier' program that got them early access to tickets and/or discounts.

That's usually more a function of the market than the mere fact that it's a touring company. Duluth gets a different show than Chicago or Los Angeles, and that also goes for things like staging and production. You get into these tertiary markets, and it's almost a different play.at least on Broadway you (hopefully) got original cast/stars. very rarely in a touring production do you get top end talent. we were lucky when we saw Wicked a few years ago. the actress who played Elphaba was incredible!I paid much more than that on Broadway

Yep, that's a great read. My favorite social media moment of the last year was that long thread captioning various odd Peloton marketing pictures, so smug and so spot on (click on the Tweet below for the whole thread):

I was late getting back to your PMs, but if you're getting down there before 4, Meyran garage is your best bet.

Thanks, I'll hit you up when I find out what's going on and maybe we'll run into each other and have a drink.
