@Faftorial, took my daughter to the Barnstormers game last night. What a great experience those games are for kids. Love independent league baseball
Always fun spotting the ex major leaguers. Steve Lombardozzi was the only one I recognized (for the Long Island Ducks).

1. Nope - solid, 4 3/4" hardwood1. Is that LVP?

2. We had oak flooring in the hallway originally, but never really liked the look of it. We brought home a lot of samples, and the cherry just looked so much better than everything else, so we put it in the family room, hallway, closet, and dining room. The house is open and big enough that it's not at all 'too dark'.
This is the old flooring:

It very well could be. Perhaps that's why it was discontinued by the manufacturer.

We're about to drop some LVP on our first floor. Figured it would be a good option for all the rooms, including the kitchen. You have any experience with it?1. Is that LVP?

No. We need to replace carpeting it most of the common rooms. Who would have thought that near white carpet in a house with two kids and two dogs was a bad idea? We're about to drop some LVP on our first floor. I just put down 1500 sq ft of LVP at work. Its the click together type. Easy to work with. Just measure twice and cut once. We're about to drop some LVP on our first floor. Figured it would be a good option for all the rooms, including the kitchen. You have any experience with it?1. Is that LVP?

Our entire first floor is LVP. Big fan. Easy to work with. Holds up better to nonsense that the hardwood flooring our neighbors have.

Did anyone have it professionally installed? I’ve reached a point in my life where I don’t want to do these large projects anymore. Does labor basically double the price?

Depends on who you hire and how much the sq ft is. If you're putting down 300 sq ft and the materials cost $400 (random number) I'd expect you to pay at least that in labor.Did anyone have it professionally installed? I'm in the same boat. I'm having a little more than just flooring done, but basically 5 gees for the material, labor is a little over 3 for the flooring and a thou for the base trim. Have about 1000 sq feet of flooring and 210 linear feet of trim. It also includes ripping up and discarding the old stuff.Did anyone have it professionally installed? I'm tempted to do the work myself bc as PFIDC said, it's easy. I've done the floating floor stuff before. But if I do it, it'll take a month or more as I only have weekends to work on it. Plus I'd be the one moving all the furniture, kids toys, TV, etc. Best just leave it to the pros.

Even worse if your floor isn't level and you have to address it.

Also, make sure you bring the flooring into the room(s) in which you plan to use it and leave it there for at least 5 days to acclimate or else you will have issues after you put it down.

I don't think you need as much time for vinyl that as do wood.

It's things like this that keep me away from big projects. There's ALWAYS some stupid 88 degree corner or you realize you should have cut that first piece in half so that the last piece isn't 1/2" wide that requires you to start all over again. Again, the pros do this all the time so they know what to check for. Youtube can only get you so far, as they don't always catch the small details.Even worse if your floor isn't level and you have to address it.

It was suggested to me to do 5 days minimum to be safe. Can't hurt if one has the time and space. The last thing you want is to put all that work in and then have gaps everywhere.I don't think you need as much time for vinyl that as do wood.
