At Konami, everything was Japanese first, and then translated into Engrish. It made for some hysterical emails, but one thing we liked to do was copy-paste the Japanese text of a comm from management into Translate, but instead of English have it translated into, say, Pashto, and then copy that translation and have that translated into some third language, and so on and so on. Then after like five or six passes we'd translate the final version into English, and whatever that said is how we'd go about our day. So if the original email was meant to be a message about how to request an extended overnight parking spot for your car and the 5x translation ended up being how to prolong your steed, that's what we'd do.
Oh, the fun we had.

Holy crap. For how far away the camera must be, and how fast that eruption is happening, the pressures involved must be massive. That looks like the smoke blasting out of a steam locomotive, but it has to be miles away.

I thought it was a time-lapse but there's nothing other than the ash cloud to use as reference.
Randomness Dos
Oh, it is a time lapse. There are some birds at a couple points. Whew, that makes it much less scary (still scary, but less).
Randomness Dos
Is that not a time-lapse? All of the videos I've seen with sound synched makes it seem much less...... well, just much less.
Randomness Dos
Haha, didn't see Shyster's post there.

It's pretty wild just how active Etna continues to be, and how many people still live in its shadow. Feels like that debt will be paid one day.
