was talking about taxes with a coworker today. she was looking through her W-2 and noticed there was nothing in the federal taxes withheld box. turns out when she switched from the temp agency and became a full-time employee in Nov of 2019 she or someone clicked the box on her W-4 that said she was exempt from Federal withholding. she will owe the Feds a pretty penny. that suuuuuucks.

On a similar note, ever since we were changed to fully remote workers last year, my W2 came in two separate pages with different local tax entries. Thought it was an error, but a quick Google showed that it's typical.

The locality on both W2s is different - one for Philadelphia, one for 'Total City'.

she only had 2 paychecks before the end of the year and with benefits added in (insurance, 457b etc) she may not have realized she should've had less money.How does one not realize that their pay raise was kinda ridiculous?
and this IS government. maybe she thought there was a COLA. she doesn't know that we haven't gotten one in 4 years.....

This self-care day was centered around bath salts, nail painting, and face masks. No mention of knuckle children at all. If that was included, I bet I would've been French Onion soup.

Ok look...I was 17 going on 18 at the local supermarket. Went from part time counter help to working in the Meat Room.How does one not realize that their pay raise was kinda ridiculous?
Was very pleased with my first paycheck and cashed it and then after thinking about it realized it seemed pretty high. Turns out they upgraded my pay to Head Meat Cutter. They let me pay it back via payroll deduction for a few pay periods.

Is there an Apple app that is accessible from a lockscreen that allows one to manage a to do list? I can use my Apple Pencil and tap the middle and take to the Apple notes page but it’s not super helpful and can’t organize thoughts very well. If one note were more easily accessible rhay would be ideal but it requires an unlock and an app launch
