He's as good as a 'national' voice in his sport as Keith Jackson, Vin Scully, Al Michaels, Dick Stockton (80s NBA), and Marv Albert (90s NBA) were in theirs. The soundtrack of the big games won't be the same. It's sad that his last season was spent calling games from his house on a 1-second delay.

He's the Wal-Mart of announcers. Every word chosen to appeal to the least common denominator fan. It's a schtick that got old, and then grating. This is a good day. Now do Joe Buck.

I've come to terms with the fact that baseball Joe Buck and football Joe Buck are two very different classes of announcers

I like Doc alright. Honestly I really enjoy him being interviewed more than his pxp.

His "No carry over penalties or power plays" thing drives me nuts- if there are no penalties there are by nature then no power plays. Also when he gives fractions of minutes- six and sever thirtheenths minutes remaining in the second period- I guess it keeps it interesting maybe but meh.

All that said- he was more than good enough. Hopefully they get a good replacement.
