Yeah, I would have never gotten it either. He was an interesting dude.

Do you have a source for that at all? I'm kind of curious to see (if it was listed in a top 10 format) how many more viewers that had in comparison to stuff like the Kennedy assassination.

Speaking of TV viewer numbers..............
The 9th most-watched broadcast in US TV history is the M*A*S*H finale. The other 29 broadcasts in the top 30 are all Superb Owls.

But that's almost half the US population of 1983. Still amazing.

Yeah it is.
Great show that I enjoyed more in reruns as I got older.

Just hit the hornet nest with half a can of foaming bee killer. We'll see how this works out. The first can of Raid definitely had an effect. There are dead hornets around the entrance, and I didn't see nearly as many flying in and out today. It might just take multiple treatments.

I feel like I'm watching a superhero or villain being created in real time.

When did the yellow jackets turn into hornets?

Should’ve put the jars over the opening(s).

I put in a window AC in my office while we wait to get the estimate for our whole home unit. There is a paper hornet nest in the top corner of that wall, about 8 feet from the window. They didn't bother me at all when I was on the ladder putting in the unit. Once I fired the unit up the whole nest went nuts. For a while it was just one of them smashing against the window above the AC, but then they all just relentlessly started smashing into it. They'd fly in a big broad circle about 15 feet in diameter and smash the window each time they flew by. It was bizarre, I even shot a video but my phone didn't pick up the jarring *tink* of each individual hornet hitting the window so I didn't post it.
They did this for two days and then stopped. Haven't seen a single one since. I'm not sure if they are still there, committed kamikaze suicide on the glass, or abandoned the nest.
It was unnerving listening to them attack all day, though. Sounded like rain hitting the window.
