I think they picked the worst possible "pose" for the Mario statue. It's too busy and it just doesn't look as good as it should if it was one of him say hoisting the cup or something.

Why was that goal selected as the pose for Mario's statute? It was a great goal, sure.... but in a run-of-the-mill way a lot of Mario's goals were great. It wasn't significant, was it?

I'd have picked either the first Cup hoist, or that Finals goal vs the North Stars, or his celebration pose after scoring in his first post-cancer game at Philly (which would be a bonus because 1) it memorializes pwnage of the Flyers, and 2) was a road game during the P-I-T-T-S-B-U-R-G-H road jersey years, and so he'd have the name of the city)
