I really don't (because I don't know anything about dog judging) understand the love for the standard poodle.
the whippet was a gorgeous dog.

You're evaluating each dog against the theoretical ideal example of the breed. In other words, you aren't judging this Whippet vs that Poodle, you are judging the Whippet vs the 'perfect Whippet', and the Poodle vs the 'perfect Poodle', etc. That's why it's called 'confirmation judging'; you're confirming the dog adheres to the standard. There are like 170+ breeds recognized by the AKC, and so there are 170+ different sets of criteria.

It's frankly quite silly; I'm more of a "who is a good boy?" kind of dog person.

The AKC National Championship used to be in Long Beach, and we'd go every year. The confirmation judging is just silly, as noted, but all the other stuff is such a hoot. They have a 'meet the breeds' area where the local breed-specific kennel club would have a display - that was often themed to the breed - and several dogs on hand that you could meet and pet and play with, learn what they're like as pets and so on. That's always the best; there was one year we went and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel club had an Edwardian house setup with a bassinet full of Cavalier puppies wearing bonnets that was single cutest thing I've ever seen in person in my entire life, and I've seen an otter playing basketball. Other notables: The Rhodesian Ridgeback 'Serengeti' booth; the Border Collie that herded me; the Harrier that was fond of Mrs Tif's crotch; meeting Underdog; the Belgian Malinois that kissed my forehead.

They moved the show to Orlando like ten years ago, and I really miss going.

I didn't read tifs post but I'll assume he said a lot of words to make a poodle seem better than a Whippet. He's wrong. A friend of ours raises rescue Whippets and they're awesome. The worst Whippet is better than the best poodle.

Whippets are good dogs. Like medium sized greyhounds.

And before anyone asks, I have a red light in that photo because I waiting to take the photo. The ****** in the white Jeep sat through his first green light, my green light, and then part of his second green light before moving.

Whippet related:
I was a Downingtown Whippet. Since graduating, Downingtown has split East/West. West kept the whippet as the school mascot, and East(where I would have attended) are the cougars.

So it’s like when Dillon split into the West Dillon Panthers and East Dillon Lions. Was the split based on keeping the best playing on the western side? Does the East have to fight for funding and support? Does the East employ the suspicious hot wife of the football coach as a probably unqualified guidance counselor? Does Tim Riggins still show up all the time because he’s the only one not to move onto greener pastures, only to take the fall for his brother’s crimes and head to jail for the entire length of time he was filming John Carter?

with you on this. what I really hate is when the car is kind of hanging back when they have a green and then when they get a yellow they pull forward KNOWING they're going to be blocking the entire intersection. :face:

What kind of cop/police unit drives Ford Transit vans? Three of them had a small Dodge pulled over on the Forbes ramp from 376. Don't think I've ever seen them before.

They were all blacked out too, so they weren't easily identifiable.

Back in the day, you could also pick them up at the Beehive on 22. At least that's what I've heard...

This is precisely what happened. Light turned yellow, so he pulled into the intersection and stayed there for the next 2 lights.

Speaking of jagoffs, had to call the cops on some crazy dodint neighbor who refused to leave my house after I yelled at her for almost hitting me. It's been a fun morning.

There are so many fantastic things in the first 30 seconds of this clip... the rest of, whatever. But man, those first 30 seconds.

FIrst, the statement. Good lord, how tone deaf do you have to be to say that out loud in an environment like that.

The giant gasp always cracks me up. It's my favorite thing at sports games when something could potentially happen and everyone start with the *ohhhhhhh* MISS *ahhhhhhhhhh..." Just makes me laugh.

The guy who said it throwing his hands up in the air, like "what? What did I say?!?!". C'mon bro. You know what you said.

Then finally, the dude with the mic just laughing his ass off.
