Jack Cuddy, alas, made it 36 more years and passed in 1975 at the age of 77. Got 10 years of retirement.

We all have embarrassing foot in mouth moments. We just didn’t all put them out on the wire services.
That's a pretty epic foot in mouth moment.

This ice cream truck owner is sick of influencers, and now he's doing something about it
After years of social media influencers requesting free ice cream in exchange for "exposure," CVT Soft Serve owner Joe Nicchi made a new rule: "Influencers Pay Double."

"We truly don't care if you're an Influencer, or how many followers you have," Nicchi wrote. "We will never give you a free ice cream in exchange for a post on your social media page. It's literally a $4 item ... well now it's $8 for you."

About five years ago, Nicchi founded CVT, which stands for chocolate vanilla twirl. Over the years, he said, he's received an increasing amount of free ice cream requests from influencers.
The truck owner hit a breaking point when he received a request to comp 300 servings of soft serve for "exposure." On the email request, also shared on Instagram, the words "HARD PASS" are scribbled in red letters.
This man is the hero that we all need.

Influencers are rough, man...not that I've encountered a ton, but the experience with them is a real tough look usually...

Amazing. And I can empathize with his plight. Over the 13 years I've been a photographer, I've lost count of the people who said I should take their pictures for "exposure" and "referrals" and acting like they were doing me a favor. Eff off with that nonsense.

It's not even that most of the time. Just randos who want free pics of their kids, wedding, etc. I think my all time favorite (and this wasn't a "for the exposure!" thing but...) was a former teacher. She wanted me to shoot her daughter's wedding but didn't want to pay my going rate. She told me they had a time share in FL and asked if I'd take a week there in lieu of payment, then added, "But we'll need to figure out which weeks we don't want to use it." I declined.

I actually meant to ask if you had dealt with anything like that, Tony. I’m not surprised that you have. Has anyone tried to pull that after the actual shoot? Like after you had already told them the rates?

Not that I can recall. But I do have a couple people every year who steal images from their proof gallery and print super crappy low res files, sometimes even with the "proof" watermark visible. I caught one client doing it when a photo of a large (11x14 or 16x20) collage was displayed at their sons grad party and was in the background of some fb pics. They never bought anything but cropped the pics so the watermark wasn't visible. I considered calling them out on it, but I'm pretty checked out at this point. It's a dead industry anyway.

I see all those stories on r/choosingbeggars and they seem too ridiculous to be real. I guess not. Influencers indeed suck

Some of those are definitely staged - they check too many boxes. Same thing happens on ProRevenge and MaliciousCompliance. I unsubbed to the latter two because of that.

I have seen a very large amount of Christmas style lights and decorations up for the 4th of July. Inflatable eagles, Uncle Sams, Statues of Liberty, whole houses with red, white, and blue lights Griswold style, and so forth.

Is this happening where you live? Or is it a #MAGA country thing?

Copyright - No. I occasionally sell limited print rights for the right price (which ends up being more profitable than selling prints) but actual copyright is never for sale.
