Not sure what it is about flying out of PHL and running into people in the TSA Pre line. Got to meet Temple Grandin this afternoon. For those of you who don't know who she is, Google her. She is a pretty amazing lady.

Got a notice in the mail that I got selected as a prospective juror and need to fill out a questionnaire online. Go to log in and they're having technical difficulties:
NOTICE: WE ARE CURRENTLY HAVING TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES! TRY AGAIN ON MONDAY, OR WHEN THIS MESSAGE NO LONGER APPEARS.
That's cool, I'll just fist myself while I wait...

Can't remember the name of the movie about her, but I thought it was really cool.

When our cat does that, she swims down the water column and floats just a few meters off the bottom, head down-tail up, and suspends herself there for a good half an hour.

Down in Florida for my wife's grandfather's funeral which was yesterday. Tonight, had my first encounter with a Palmetto Bug, which was climbing up the wall behind the TV.

I know those roaches are *not* like the ones that are invasive, and they can wander in anywhere in the South, but good lord those things are huge. Yet another reason I'll never live in the tropics.

We had a Palmetto palm in our backyard when we lived in Ft Lauderdale. So, yeah.

I got it with a shoe and it seemed to be dead in the corner of the floor last night. I picked it up to flush it tonight and it's antennae were still moving. Blech.

I've unloaded nearly an entire can of Raid on one of them, and it just seemed to agitate the thing.

Do you remember the scene in Temple Of Doom when they're in the bug chamber, and Willie Scott turns her hand over and there's this giant bug in her hand? That was sort of how my first encounter with a Palmetto bug played out. I put my hand down on the hard drive of me super sweet Commodore 128 when I turned my bedroom light on, and the thing attached to my palm.

There are not enough nopes.

Meh, I don’t even think about them anymore. Except that they make an awesome popping sound when stepped on.
