Appleton special and ginger beer...not a good rum, but the most expensive one that i would be willing to mix.

Reading a book about the Overland Party and the establishment of Astoria in what is now Oregon. Easily the most haunting part of this whole story is the lack of communication between the initial landing party at the mount of the Columbia, Hunt's voyageurs coming across Wyoming-Idaho-Washington-Oregon and John Jacob Astor sitting in Manhattan with no clue what was happening.

@eddysnake

Thanks for turning me on to Naomi Novik. I'm reading the Temperaire series now. Perfect combination of my love of Jane Austin and fantasy. Much better done than Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, more approachable.

My new boss got me a bottle of it for Christmas. I thought Junipero was the label, nor a brand. Didn't realize it was Anchor until today. In fact, I didn't know Anchor had a distilling operation at all until today.

Appleton rum is the worst. I would opt not to drink if it were the only option.

I regard the V/X as very good value for the money. But the 12 yr Rare Reseve is quite good without qualification. The Reserve is actually my favorite Appleton bottle, and it's only around 8-10 years.

For some reason, my palate shifts at the 12-I5 year mark with most spirits. Everything I've had older than that just tastes a variation of muddy. Some call it 'smooth', I call it unfocused. They can still be quite good, but not to the point of justifying a 2x price point.

I grab a bottle or two of V/X at duty-free each time I come back home across from Canada.

Yeah the cheap bottle i bought was one i was given for signing up for a sandals rewards program in st lucia. I almost still left it there in favor of other bottles i wanted more. I tried to talk the guy into giving me estate instead. Then i tried to talk him into a bottle of chairmans reserve. I was not succesful.

The board says I posted this at 9:44 but my phone says it's 8:35. How do I fix this?

Fix your time zone to fix the hour, then hound @Kicksave to reboot the server to fix the minutes.

ucp.php?i=179

That's the link for Time Zones.

Wait, @Kicksave is hosting this site on a server in his home?

The scandal.
