Who is Algernon?

And he is well from what I can see on the FB. Just started working in the mental health field doing something with public awareness I think.

To me "got over" means it doesn't matter to me anymore that they are gone. To "get used to" means that I'm no longer mourning them. I guess it's semantics at this point.

A vet kills a cat with a bow and arrow and wants to be given "vet of the year award". She was immediately fired for her actions, good riddance. There is an image of the dead cat, for those who may not want to see it.

Feral cats are a problem. The golf course at the Marine base I used to work on was overrun with them because people would get orders and dump their cats in the woods.

Now, she found a really interesting way to deal with the problem. Though is it worse than drowning a litter of kittens in a burlap sack? Should probably have some discretion in either case.

There is dealing with a problem, and then there is parading a dead cat you shot with an arrow around like a trophy... Pretty sure you can do the first without the second.

Several articles also state it wasn't a feral cat but rather an outdoor cat owned by an elderly couple.

Problem is, it wasn't a feral cat. It belonged to a local rescue, and it's name was Tiger.

And, feral or not, killing a cat is a misdemeanor in Texas. And, since she was good enough to provide evidence that she did in fact kill this cat, she will likely be convicted. Which means that if she decides to kill any more cats and brag about it on Facebook in the future, she'll automatically qualify under Texas law to be charged with a felony.

Well done, doc.

lol, I seriously cannot believe how dumb this girl is. My God, you post a picture of you holding a cat with an arrow through it's skull on social media? And you are a veterinarian?! This part:
In the comment section of her post, she wrote “no I did not lose my job. Lol. Psshh. Like someone would get rid of me. I’m awesome!”
Unreal.

The proper way to deal with feral cats is to capture them and bring them somewhere to get neutered. Not just out right kill them. Especially since it is against the law in most (all?) states.

We have several ferals that frequent our yard that were TNR. Most programs will tip an ear for easy ID. If you see a cat like this

they are spayed or neutered, and likely had at least one dose of rabies vaccine.

So it was a feral cat that belonged to an eldery couple who rescued tigers. This story either has too much or not enough coverage.

A feral cat is in the same league as feral swine and coyotes, to me. The hog is probably smarter but it's not cute so it doesn't get the irrational support. I get why some would be upset, and she sounds like an idiot, but i don't see the actual culling to be wrong.

Our day care had a "Parents' Night Out" event tonight, so we got to drop our daughter off around 530 and go enjoy a nice dinner. We went to a really pleasant local restaurant, and we had a nice, quiet dinner. Too quiet, almost. From the time we got there until the time we left, we were the only ones in the formal dining room (there is an attached bar, this building predates the Revolutionary War).

The owner/chef, a guy that was born in Ethiopia, moved to Cairo, and eventually came to the States with a handful of dollars in his pocket, was nice as can be. Came out and made a nice Strawberries Romanoff tableside which was excellent. When I left though, I couldn't stop wondering if the place was doing OK from a financial perspective, and for some reason it really bothered me that they might not be doing well. I'm becoming a softie in my old age.

Here's the cat she killed. That's not a feral cat.
