I've actually been enjoying it not getting light out until almost 8. Like most people, I'd rather have my daylight in the evening.

My kid got up at 5:30 asking when her alarm would go off. Then again at 6:00.

To be clear, her alarm on weekends is a “stay the f*ck in bed” alarm. That goes off at 7… so she wasn’t too far off.

Wife is making sausage, biscuits and gravy, so that makes up for this.

I have to ask, just to be sure, but are you thinking of like a traditional brown gravy that you’d find on turkey, etc? I’m talking about southern gravy, which is basically milk and flour.

I noticed about 10 years ago or so that I had a list of things I thought I hated, but it turned out my mom just wasn’t a very good cook. Sausage gravy and biscuits is currently on that list. Might have to give them a go to see if they’re any good.

There are so many different variations of it, too. I prefer flaky Grands biscuits with a little honey on them before the gravy, though most people do traditional Southern biscuits. Definitely want to get the sausage as finely chopped in the pan as you can, IMO.

mrs meow says this all the time. The list of foods she said she didn’t like when we first starting dating was miles long. It’s been whittled down to like 3 things because her mother is certifiably the worst cook in the world

My mom is a fantastic cook and even better baker, so the only contribution that I have to the ‘thanks, mom!’ angle is that she is very much a well done steak person, so it took me moving out to discover what good steak tasted like.

Yea, I've had Southern gravy before. Just not a fan.

I can't do sausage gravy for breakfast either. Makes me feel like crap all day. Hollandaise sauce too. Had to cut both out a few years ago

Real maple syrup on sage sausage is... chef's kiss. I haven't had it in years, but it's just about the best thing ever.

Yep. I swap honey for maple syrup every other time we have it just to switch it up. I’ll be having leftovers tomorrow morning and will be using the maple syrup.

Bob Evans still makes maple sausage. It's good but I prefer the original or the zesty hot.
