Pickett is old for a rook QB in the NFL circa 2022.
Justin Herbert is the same age, and he'll probably throw his 100th career TD sometime in the fist month of 2023. As much as I bag on Lamar Jackson he has already won close to 40 games and been a unanimous MVP, and he's only a year older.

Good for him.
I'm sure they can backfill that position with a secretary, janitor, or parking lot attendant. Steeler Way.

YouTube suggested this to me tonight:
All kinds of nuggets in the first 5 minutes.
It's the Steelers Broncos game from 1979, since there is no thumbnail.

Moving discussion here
OL is something that doesn't really need addressed. Only if one of the top LT are available at 17 do I draft high there.
I'm fine with them addressing the D as well, but if you step back and think about it, defense is not their problem right now. It will be in a year or two, but my thoughts are address the offense (they already failed by retaining Canada, but hear me out) with at least 1/3 of the first 3 picks. They can't ignore WR, and FA is usually a bad place to find a guy unless he's a WR4 or WR5.I assume Jack and Jackson are getting cut immediately, no?
Also, do both Witherspoon and Wallace get cut. Also, which of their current interior DL guys are in line to maybe start? DeMarvin Leal or Montravius Adams?
I think I saw that they want to resign Sutton, so I guess once they do that, they can cur one of those three corners that will save them money.
Mostly just doesn't seem like they have any defensive lineman currently on the roster.
I think between Pickens, Friermuth, Heyward, and Johnson they are fine with options for Pickett. I think their biggest issue last year was just too many plays designed to target Johnson. Just stopping unproductive play calls should help the offense, as well as any progression made by Pickett and Pickens. The defense was what, like 5 legit NFL starters (Watt, Fitzpatrick, Heyward, Highsmith and that one lineman they picked up late), and a collection of replacement level guys? I would actually be happy if they went defense with all three of those top 50 picks.

Wasn’t he losing playing time to that 7th round pick by the end of the year?I'm not sure Jack gets cut. They have nothing at MLB
He just seems like a replacement level veteran.

Jack wasn't great last year but he also had 104 tackles in 15 games, more than anyone else on the team. I could see a restructured contract with an extension so that he doesn't count for $11+ million against the cap this season, but I would be surprised if he was cut and wouldn't be surprised if he looks like he has more left in the tank if not playing next to Bush or Spillane.
William Jackson III 100% gets cut because it's nothing but savings to get rid of him. They gave up nothing in that trade and it's still weird as **** because he never saw the field in a Steelers uniform. Wallace and Witherspoon have the same cap situation this year. I'm not sure what they do there as the team seems to like Witherspoon for some reason and Wallace was actually pretty productive last year when not tasked with starting corner responsibilities. I would keep Wallace over Witherspoon for sure. James Pierre is an RFA. Maulet sucks and can easily be cut but doesn't offer much cap savings. I think they sign Sutton, keep Wallace, draft a CB, retain Pierre, cut Witherspoon and Maulet, and then go dumpster diving for some new faces.
DL is a different mess all together. Cam is Cam but is also expensive as **** and I can see some restructuring shennanigans going on there. Ogunjobi is probably worth bringing back but not at the $8MM he got paid last year. Alualu is old as **** but they always look better with him that without. Wormley was their top reserve but he kind of sucks and re-signing a UFA DL who blew out his knee in December isn't a smart idea (so they'll probably do it just like they did with **** Banner). Adams, Leal, and Loudermilk are cheap enough that I don't think they're going anywhere in the interim, but none have shown the quality to start on an NFL DL. This position just flat out needs more bodies.

DL is largely my biggest concern because it's basically Cam and whoever else. Would be nice to have an heir within that group to take over when Cam leaves.
OL, I hope they don't sucker themselves into "well they got better as the year went on." They need a center, and a tackle at the least.
MLB is another hole but it hasn't been good for a few years now and they seem to cover it up well. It'd be nice to have some young MLB talent in there that doesn't suck.

Agree with all of this. If they were better at drafting corners, I'd put that in this mix, but they've been ungodly awful at that.DL is largely my biggest concern because it's basically Cam and whoever else. Would be nice to have an heir within that group to take over when Cam leaves.

WR would be nice, especially if you believe that Pickett is for real fr.
But I agree that you still win (or lose) in the the trenches and down the middle of the field, so OL, DL and MLB are always premium spots...and they have no depth anywhere at those positions.

Yo, no cap I think he's fr fr. He straight bussin, with the riz and all the sauce.“If you believe that pickett is for real”
If you agree, then drafting a difference maker (legit WR2 with potential to be WR1) should be in the priority mix within your first 3 picks this year. Surround talent with talent.

QBs need WRs that can beat coverage, get open, and catch the ball. Unless, of course, you have an offensive coordinator that can scheme 'lesser' WRs open. Do....do the steelers have an OCoord that can do that?
