They'll need to draft a CB or two, plus DL and OL, not to mention WR. Except now it's not as pressing to have their drafted players become starters. They still need a WR or two, as the current group is very meh.I have a feeling they're going to sign a back-up, maybe trade for one like they did Jack - and totally draft one higher up if they can.
I'm ok with them drafting MLB or OL early. I just don't understand the CB talk for this defense.
Basically they can now draft BPA and not have to reach with any of the above mentioned positions.

They need to draft them, sure, but I don't think they need to go out and get a premier first rounder for CB. Unless the defense is completely changing, they've just never needed one and haven't prioritized as such.

If they pick a MLB or CB in the top 20, then the guy really needs to be a pro-bowler (what we thought Bush was supposed to be), and I still think that is likely the direction of their first pick.
WR in the first three rounds for sure, maybe Addison falls to the second round cause of the combine, cause no way they should take him in the first.
But mostly these recent FA signings mean they don't have to draft for need.

There is no glaring black hole at the moment, which is pretty nice. Take the best player available unless it's a QB, TE, OLB, FS or RB basically

If Joey Jr. is available in the first, he'd be tempting.....but I'm not sure that he's going to be a shutdown corner at the NFL level. He's very, very good, but is he head and shoulders above what they have? Or maybe a better way to put that, does he significantly raise the water level of the position room? Not really sure he does.
I think it's fun to think what this defense would look like with a true shutdown corner on one side. The problem is they're extremely rare, the Steelers are never in a position to draft a potential one, and they are too expensive to sign one in FA. So they place their priorities elsewhere. They need to draft them, sure, but I don't think they need to go out and get a premier first rounder for CB. Not sure what the makeup of the draft class is, but thinking interior line can be ignored at the top as well. There is no glaring black hole at the moment, which is pretty nice. Take the best player available unless it's a QB, TE, OLB, FS or RB basically

From watching his college play Joey Jr is definitely his father's son as he talks a lot of trash and has been penalized for his behavior a few times. His coverage was usually pretty good but from what I saw and don't know if he is a true shut down corner. If he is still available when the Steelers pick, I think he'll be their guy, but I won't be completely shocked if they draft another defensive position or OL.

I'm fine with them taking anyone on the OL in the top. If a Center/Tackle falls to them, do it.
If they take an MLB, do it. I don't really want them to take another Najee and tell me why I'm wrong this year.

Basically agree w Geno's take here. True lockdown CBs are hard to find, but if you get one and plonk them on a defense that has an all-world pass rush........ hoo boy. I'd really like to see what that looks like.

I don't think the Steelers like their OL as much as they claim to.

they've basically slightly upgraded Spillane to Holcombe and Bush to Roberts. Still one spot to fill without Jack, but maybe they really like Robinson

Hard to imagine whomever is replacing Bush would be a downgrade.
