Colts Steelers MNF Thread 11/28/2022
Felt like, last night was a pretty big sign that Kenny has improved a bit as he gets more experience. Made some real good throws, still made some bad ones - but the no interceptions in 12 quarters or whatever is very positive considering how he started the year.

Pickett was definitely way better than I had seen him earlier this year...I was a little surprised actually. Had some unexpected zip on some passes. Looked more confident. I know the Colts aren't anyone's measuring stick, but our defense doesn't give a lot of ground even without Shaq Leonard. 24 points is just about the top of the heap in terms of PA this year...

Was an interesting game. It was like a video game where you pick the same team to play both sides; two truly dysfunctional offenses. Again, it's wild that someone just wholly disregarded the clock like that.

I think the clock management was like a video game actually, too. In Madden, if you're down a TD, there's like 2 minutes left and you have all three timeouts...you basically have a turnover to give because if you give up the ball, you just do three straight goalline formations, three timeouts, get the ball back with a 1:20 left. But that's not how the NFL works...so, once we got inside 90 seconds, the returns on that are basically negative. This is your last shot, so use your timeouts, and plan it out...

Figures. I specifically called that play out as a good call. Should've known it wasn't Canada.

Yeah, it wasn't even the time preservation so much as you have a bad QB, awful offense, and a coach with two games under his belt. Maybe slow this down a bit and get everyone on the same page. This is your last shot, so use your timeouts, and plan it out...
But, a turnover on downs works for me.

Screens to Gentry and shovel passes to Watt are more in Canada's wheel house.Figures. I specifically called that play out as a good call. Should've known it wasn't Canada.

I’d be interested in how many last plays of the game involve Minkah disrupting a pass. Especially one score games.

Dan, I'm sure you have some decent insight, but for Christ's sake, don't record your tv with your phone.

That's some grading system if that's the top performance of the week.
Poor Mike White, he went 22/28 315yd 3td 0int but couldn't catch Kenny in PFF.

I was long asleep by this time (sigh), but there was an injury timeout, which gave KP time to talk with Mike Sullivan and Tomlin, where he suggested the play that scored the Snell TD. No Canada involved. Glorious!Figures. I specifically called that play out as a good call. Should've known it wasn't Canada.

Per the graphic in the NFL thread, one thing that has given me comfort these last couple months: For as bad as the Steelers under OCMC have been, they are comfortably not the worst offense in the NFL. Which is saying something.

I was gonna say, that's some goofy metrics there. Do they have a multiplier stat like, "Is the QB's first name 'Kenny'? x2.3"20/28 174yd 0td 0Int

He played well, and even something like the missed TD to Pickens (whoever you want to blame for the miss) is a pre-snap read he didn't make vs NO. So at least he attempting the throws now. I'm encouraged, but let's pump our brakes here.

Agreed. My dig was at PFF. We've talked about how wonky their stuff is before but that one, if true, really takes the cake. The only thing I could think of was maybe the strength of the opponent, but White played Chicago which isn't leagues different than Indy. And Kenny probably rushed for more yards than White, but that would be a silly thing to weigh so heavily in a passer category.

PFF is garbage and should never be used to evaluate a player

What specifically about PFF's process is garbage...not output, but the process?
Colts Steelers MNF Thread 11/28/2022
Can you really divorce the two?

Yeah you don't need to know about the process if the output doesn't pass the eye test.
