Interesting how the last 2 times Penn State has made the tourney, they've started the next season with a new coach.

Read that the seniors recommended PSU promote Associate Head coach Adam Fisher for the job. He is a PSU grad, was Assistant Coach with (PC alum) Jim Larranaga on some very good Miami teams, and has been back at State during Shrewsberry’s tenure.

I mean, there are slim pickings out there and if the olayers think that highly of Fisher I guess he is as good as any. Maybe they can help him keep the recruiting class together (assume Shrews kid goes to ND with him).

Yup... First taste of success, good coaches run. I don't fault Shrew but I can't support him going to that shitty place. I hope he never wins a game there

Yeah I get it but I freaking hate ND. I get that he's an Indiana guy and so it makes total sense. Otherwise ND has a minimally better history of success than PSU has, but doesn't everyone have at least that?

Xavier vs Texas (-4) @KC
It's amazing how resilient Texas has been to weather the Chris Beard situation and rally behind Rodney Terry. If he doesn't get the permanent job, then I don't know what Texas really expects in their athletic department. I really like the Xavier team and they would probably have a better chance if they were 100% but they've missed Zach Freemantle since the beginning of February. It's plenty of time to adjust but Texas has a well-rounded group that has the ability to score along with any team they've faced lately.
PICK -- Texas
I have to assume Terry's been told it's his job and once the team's no longer playing they'll work out the details. That said I'd at least like to hope PSU reached out to him (and he probably laughed and hung up the phone but still.....)

I would think so too. Maybe Terry has told them not to announce anything until after the season ends so all of the PR and media can be about how the team is playing with that chip of the administration not believing in their coach. I mean, I've seen dumber things used as extra motivation.

If the Zags were inside a barn right now and trying to hit the broad side of it, and there was a window in that wall, the ball would go through that window.

Few went to Sallis and Smith and those guys have locked it down. That and the pace has caught up to UCLA who has zero bench. A lot of tired shots in these last 10 minutes.

And then we set it to the BYU game at the end of January.

Good lord, what a freakin last 90 seconds of this one plus the final 10 minutes of FAU-Tennessee.

And someone went 4-0 tonight. Go figure.

PSU considering Rodney Terry per SI.

https://www.si.com/college/2023/03/23/c ... per-report

I'd still be surprised if he doesn't stay at UT both because of his handling of their situation this season and because as we saw at PC, there's just not a lot out there as far as candidates right now. That said pre Longhorns he was around .500 at mid major Fresno State and UTEP, not exactly mind blowing.

That said when you think about genius athletic departments Texas isn't usually right up there (having the top valued football program vs that team's success for example).... who knows. All else being equal you wouldn't take PSU basketball over UT basketball. Also apparently being considered at Cal but... what a disaster that program is.
