Zags off to a rough start with a couple double digit losses on the ledger already. This is where they usually bank some Q1 wins.

They've got point guard issues. As pointed out by a number of analysts, there's no Pangos or Nembhard or other point guards of lore that can drag them out of this early malaise. The freshman will develop but when you're playing high caliber competition this early, the lack of experience is going to show quickly.

As it is, Purdue is gonna be a tough out because Edey has gotten better in the post and Purdue has complements to him as well.

In other news, I'll get to have a little fun on Sunday as I'll get to be a radio color guy for our Towson game against *checks notes* Mercer.

What a weekend. A surging Purdue tears through Gonzaga and Duke, and the Heels lose to Bama in 4OT.

How did the color go?

I did one game for Grove City football back in college and I was pretty much useless.

Once I got the pace back (hadn't done it in 3 years), it went off pretty well. I got a bit longwinded in a couple of spots, including one time near the end of the game when my PXP guy asked why teams don't foul with 1:30-1:40 left when down 10 instead of waiting until the last minute and I equated it to Patrick Roy changing the way that coaches treat empty net situations when down a goal. But all in all, I was happy with it and we got a 10-point win.

Friars not gelling very well. 0 -fer their decent OOC games, which I guess they won all the bad ones which is better than some.

It’s the risk you take going transfer heavy, I guess. Sometimes they get to the Sweet 16, sometimes they look like a monkey humping a basketball.

It’s far from over, obviously with many good Big East games to make some hay in, and the Naismith Coach of the Year running the show, but early returns are not promising

DC Residents get free tickets for Hoyas/Siena game tomorrow. What if you couldn't give tickets away?

I miss BE basketball. Georgetown, Syracuse, WV, Connecticut...every game seemed like a rivalry game.

Before the start of this year, no major conference team had ever started 0-7. Louisville is now 0-8 with losses to Bellarmine, Wright State and App State by 1 point apiece. Not to be outdone Cal is 0-10 with losses to fellow Cal schools Davis (by 10) and San Diego, Eastern Washington, Southern and Texas State.

Long season in the Ville and Berkeley.

Haven’t seen much of PSU this season but looks like they beat #17 Illinois on the road today 74-59. Will have to put them on my radar screen.

They had a really good pre-conference record. If they play half decent in big ten play, they’ll make the tourney this year.

Classic game tonight, PC gutted out a 2 OT won vs Marquette. Ed Cooley Has coached 100 games decided by 5 points or fewer since 2013.

He’s 71-29.

I feel like that’s pretty good.

State quietly sits at 11-3 after a wire to wire win over Iowa on Sunday. ESPN.com doesn't even have a story about it, so talk about under the radar.

Killer stretch coming up @ Michigan, #1 Purdue, #14 Indiana, @ #15 Wisconsin. Will learn a lot about them the next two weeks. I'd take 2-2 out of that stretch for sure.

What I know already is Jalen Pickett is the real deal.

It's been a pretty good season for @RonnieFranchise thus far with the starts by both Providence and Penn State. Both teams have tests tonight. Not sure if Providence has the horses inside to handle Sanogo and Clingan but they've always had this mystique over UCONN at the Dunk so I'd expect that to be a dogfight. Penn State got a really good road win at Illinois a couple weeks back and the win over Iowa on Sunday was impressive other than the final 5 minutes. Michigan's still ticked about that loss to the Chips and they took it out big time against the Twerps. I think the Wolverines win but it'll be a tight one. And you're right, Jalen Pickett is such a good player. He has trouble from 3 but he realizes this and used the Iowa game to work on his stuff inside the arc.

As for the rest of the national landscape, New Mexico got beat last night and thus, we have no more undefeated teams. It's the second-earliest since Indiana's undefeated run in 1976 that there are no more perfect teams left. Only 2017-18 season when the last 3 died on December 30 has been earlier. It's been a very competitive season thus far and there's really no clear-cut favorite as there has been in the last few seasons. The Big 12 is a grinder every single night. Pitt has awakened and is playing really good ball in knocking off Carolina and Virginia. I'd like to see them take that game on the road before anointing them further. Rutgers just picked off #1 Purdue for the 2nd straight year and this time doing it on the road. That Pikiell guy really knows how to coach. Now that we're transitioning out of football season, it's going to be a pretty fun watch as conference season revs up.

It has! and I get a nice double header tonight, PSU/Michigan at 7 and PC/UConn at 8:30.

I'd give my left nut for a win over UConn and a 5-0 conference start.
