Painter is just a terrible coach. It's that simple. Shines until March. Don't forget they almost lost to Penn State in the B1G final.

In a few short hours I went from "Wow, PSU was a few points from winning the B1G tournement!" to "WTF, PSU couldn't beat a team that just lost to Farley Dickerson or whatever?"Painter is just a terrible coach. It's that simple. Shines until March. Don't forget they almost lost to Penn State in the B1G final.

The last five champs were one seeds**** Purdue... I think I had them in the elite 8
I keep telling myself not to trust 1 seeds, and I keep trusting 1 seeds
I mean multiple 1 seeds making it to the elite 8

Day 2 musings:
--Hooray and kudos to Youtube TV for creating the multiviewer on their platform for this week. Both tonight and last night, I had all 4 games going on the screen at the same time. They're getting that ready for when they take over Sunday Ticket in the fall.
--It's so funny how there are so many Power 5/6 conference coaches who get lauded year in and year out for being 'great coaches'. Matt Painter was constantly mentioned as one, especially with what Purdue did this regular season. But your mark is made in the Tournament and Painter and his team have come up small each of the last 3 years. I'm not sure how you can have a guy like Edey and not have him make sure he touches the ball on every possession, especially when you're in the double bonus. That and he knew FDU pressed if he watched any of that game against Texas Southern. Purdue looked like they had zero clue how to handle a press.
--Speaking of presses, there were two other teams that melted down as soon as they saw a press -- Drake and Memphis. It was surprising to see Drake do it since they're usually a good ballhandling team. But Memphis's debacle again stems from bad coaching. Anyone who thinks Penny is a good coach is kidding themselves. Dusty May drew up the perfect play at the end and *shocker* they went to the basket when down by 1. Funny how that works when you don't settle for a chucked 3.
--Kent read, Kent write, Kent make a layup, Kent defend the lane. I didn't expect that one.
--Oh look, Bobby Hurley's team choked away another opportunity. Couldn't happen to a nicer coach.
--Iowa State-Pitt was brought to us by Home Depot and Ryobi Tools with a special informercial spot from Habitat for Humanity. Wow, that was tough to watch.
--I have rules on final possession -- if it's tied, go to the basket...if you're down 1, go to the basket...if you're down 2, go to the basket and kick for 3 only if wide open. Why? Because of the chance to get contact and get to the line and too many times there's dribble dribble ball screen dribble chuck at the horn. Both Florida Atlantic and TCU got it right on their final possessions down by 1 and tied, respectively.
--I'll be at the 2 Orlando games on Saturday. I've been to 18 NCAA Tournament games and 15 of them were decided by double digits. We'll see if I can buck my trend.

I’ve been to 12, 6 in Pittsburgh and 6 in Buffalo. Only real blowouts I recall were Nova crushing Lafayette by 41 and Duke over Iona by 22 in ‘18. Actually I think the Zags beat WVU by a decent margin in ‘12 too.
Apart from my favorites being the two PC wins last year to get to the Sweet 16, saw a crazy entertaining 1 point NC State comeback win over LSU in ‘15 and Rhody (damn it) outlast Oklahoma in OT in ‘18.
Last year on St Patty’s day after PC won, got to see Richmond upset Iowa and then the perfect nightcap, 12 seed NMSU upset 5 seeded UConn, the team I love to hate, Then 14 seed UVM gave it a go vs Arkansas but fell 4 points short. What a day.
I love vegging out and watching these four days of ball on TV but when you go and see all the fans of different teams, the bands and cheerleaders and you get an upset brewing where all the neutral fans get behind the ‘dog like NMSU- nothing like it.
Tourney is back here next year, I’ll be there for sure.

Penny Hardaway is over matched. I couldn't believe all the drama and other nonsense in his bench area last night. So much pushing and shoving during timeouts

I thought they usually put an attractive game on the single noon ET slot? SDSU/Furman doesn’t really pump my nads. I suppose it’s just a vehicle to also get Duke in the other single spot.

So I woke up thinking about that play. FD guy secures the rebound. Ball is knocked from him and out of bounds. Ref gives ball back to FD. Review. Ball is last touched by FD, but he lost control because of an obvious foul. Initial FD ball goes over to Purdue in an absolute critical point in the game.HE GOT **** FOULED
Here's the thing that's bugging me so much. The ref makes the 'right' call initially, without seeing what actually happened. He sees the rebound secured, and the ball knocked away. The only way for the ball to be knocked away the way it was is if the Purdue guy fouled him or hit the ball. He couldn't see the foul from his angle, so he awarded the ball back to FD assuming the Purdue dude knocked the ball out. They obviously saw the foul on the replays, so why not call it 'inconclusive' and keep the ball with FD? I get not changing it to a foul and 2 FTs, but man that sucked.
I totally get why replay is used, but there's got to be a better way to handle a scenario like that. It's like replay made the actual outcome of the play worse than how it was originally called IRT, which obviously should never happen.

16 of 19 Tourney games attended have been double digits. Surely, this next one will be close, right? Right?
The noon game is usually someone popular and with SD St here, I didn’t think they’d make a west coast team play that early so I figured that no way Orlando would get the 2 standalones. Birmingham might have made more sense but they want the 1 seeds for prime time.

Selfishly, I hope UT builds their lead and you're treated to Duke getting waxed. Looks like that first game sucked, I didn't watch.16 of 19 Tourney games attended have been double digits. Surely, this next one will be close, right? Right?

The way they don't seem to give a f about scheduling times for attendees I wouldn't have been surprised if they scheduled Sacramento at 9 am local time
