The world's richest man taunting an employee in a public forum. I'm sure that gave all the incels who worship him a good stiffy.

[Ex-employee] clarified in a tweet that he has muscular dystrophy, a degenerative disease that he says put him in a wheelchair more than 20 years ago. [Ex-employee], who founded a digital branding company acquired by Twitter in 2021, has been recognized by the United Nations and the president of Iceland for spearheading a charitable effort to build 1,000 wheelchair ramps around Reykjavik to increase the city’s accessibility.

I’m pointing out that while Musk is a shitter, it’s reasonable to question the intentions of others that are trying to gain internet points by dunking on him
just because someone is opposing Musk doesn’t magically mean they mean well

the more I think about it, the more cynical about this guy I’m becoming
I wouldn’t be surprised if this was all a public show to advertise his new restaurant

Can you believe that guy forced Musk to publicly be an dadhole to him just so he could open a restaurant named after his mom?

If Musk had responded privately (or, more realistically, had a subordinate contact the employee) no dunking would have taken place and the restaurant would have received no publicity.I’m pointing out that while Musk is a shitter, it’s reasonable to question the intentions of others that are trying to gain internet points by dunking on him

Seems like a failure of Musk and the HR people he hired to not resolve this in-house.

I have a great idea for some collateral marketing that will really help our restaurant. First: I have to get laid off from Twitter. Not fired, laid off. And not just laid off, laid off in a way that's administratively ambiguous, like that guy in Office Space who they just stopped paying. Okay, next: I shall seek clarity on my status from the richest human being who has ever lived; he happens to run Twitter and is technically my boss, so that's not as odd as it sounds when you say it out loud like that. But then.............. then we PROFIT. He won't be able to handle the comment on the DL and he'll have to respond with all kinds of derogatory remarks and make fun of my disability and say I was a no-load employee, and generally humiliate me on a global stage. But I tell ya, we'll be swimming in loot. It'll be skyrhákarl for everyone!

I don’t disagree with this. I’m not defending Musk; I’m just pointing out that I doubt this guy is trulu upset at being laid off. Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if HR DID tell him he was laid off and he brought the fight to Twitter anyway because he knew Musk would take the bait and he’d garner a lot of public sympathyIf Musk had responded privately (or, more realistically, had a subordinate contact the employee) no dunking would have taken place and the restaurant would have received no publicity.I’m pointing out that while Musk is a shitter, it’s reasonable to question the intentions of others that are trying to gain internet points by dunking on him

The feds (FTC) are investigating Twitter:

WASHINGTON—The Federal Trade Commission has demanded Twitter Inc. turn over internal communications related to owner Elon Musk, as well as detailed information about layoffs—citing concerns that staff reductions could compromise the company’s ability to protect users, documents viewed by the Wall Street Journal show.
In 12 letters sent to Twitter and its lawyers since Mr. Musk’s Oct. 27 takeover, the FTC also asked the company to “identify all journalists” granted access to company records and to provide information about the launch of the revamped Twitter Blue subscription service, the documents show.
The FTC is also seeking to depose Mr. Musk in connection with the probe.
“We are concerned these staff reductions impact Twitter’s ability to protect consumers’ information,” an FTC official wrote to Twitter’s lawyers on Nov. 10 following an initial wave of layoffs, according to a copy of the letter viewed by the Journal.

It’s a good thing he went all in on GOP. Now he can claim he’s being investigated due to his political beliefs.

Man, what a beautiful way to top off this story:Looks like he finally called his lawyers back.
*chef kiss*Mr Musk replied: "Based on your comment, I just did a video call with Halli to figure out what's real vs what I was told. It's a long story. Better to talk to people than communicate via tweet."
