Took me 9 holes to warm up, but shot an 83 for the first round of the trip, with a 3 over 38 on the back. Chipped in for birdie on 11, which is my first chip-in in about 12 years.
Nice, where's the trip to?

Well...that was something. Back in Hartford, there was that 8-hole playoff and it was a lot of blah. I wasn't there for that one. I gleefully watched from a bar outside Atlanta. But this one, I had a ringside seat. There were so many ups and downs and punches and counterpunches and is this gonna be the one. I got to walk the entire 18th hole with a boom mic on my way to 17 when we went to the 3rd playoff hole and then told my cameraman that I was gonna break protocol and ride on the back of the cart when we went back to 18 because I wasn't walking back up that damn hill. Cantlay definitely has ice in his veins and Bryson let him off the hook so many times. Thankfully, he clanked that last putt or else we might have been resuming this Monday morning. As for Bryson, he continued his media boycott and this time, he ran from everybody, including the Tour partners (which includes us). We chased him halfway to the parking lot but he wouldn't stop and the media official finally gave up and called us off. Ryder Cup Week is gonna be real interesting when it comes time for press conferences. I hope the PGA of America is ready for that firestorm.

Great piece on where we've come with Dechambeau.

I don't really like the guy but am oddly starting to feel sorry for him. The boorish fans are getting old, admittedly.

I know I’m alone in here that I don’t really mind Bryson. He can be annoying, sure, but it isn’t near Patrick Reed level of heel. Also fans who continue to yell Brooksie are the people that continue to use a joke wayyy to long after it stops being funny. Likely the same folk who still yell “GET IN THE HOLE” with a smirk

Not to mention that Bryson is a hell of a golfer and ultimately that’s what I appreciate the most

I like my soft spikes. At the indoor range I hit with regular running shoes on and I don't like it as much. But, as always is my motto: Do what feels good.

Down in Hilton Head. Played Hilton Head National yesterday as a warm-up. Have Oyster Reef tomorrow. Unsure what Thursday will bring (Wednesday is the only day rain is forecasted).

That playoff between Hickok and English was terrible. A showcase in mediocrity (at that level).

Well that's all I've worn the past few years and I do like them. However there's the rare time when I play in wet conditions or dew and slip and botch a shot and get pissed I don't have real spikes. Gonna grab a pair for the fall I think so I have options

It's just my dad and I, and he's never broken 100, so he wasn't spending the money for that.

They are desperately trying to put this genie back in the bottle before the Ryder Cup.

I was reading on r/golf about how security was just plucking people out of the crowd and escorting them out. Good. This shouting, regardless of content, is **** embarrassing.

It's much easier to play golf when you can see where your tee shot lands, I am slowly finding with the new glasses.
