One good thing about Ida is that it cleared out the heat for like the next 10 days. I have an outing on Saturday at Chippewa that is going to be a long ass 18 holes, and then next week I have a two-day golf outing for work at Morgantown. Sunny and mid-70's starting tomorrow through these events.

This is good stuff from Rory. He's one of my favorite guys on Tour.

https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/32 ... -right-now
"I certainly feel some sympathy for him because I don't think that you should be ostracized or criticized for being different, and I think we have all known from the start that Bryson is different and he is not going to conform to the way people want him to be,'' said McIlroy, a two-time winner of the Tour Championship, which begins Thursday at East Lake Golf Club. "He is his own person. He thinks his own thoughts, and everyone has a right to do that.

"There are certainly things that he has done in the past that have brought some of this stuff on himself. I'm not saying that he's completely blameless in this. But at the same time, I think he has been getting a pretty rough go of it of late and it's actually pretty sad to see because he, deep down, I think, is a nice person and all he wants to do is try to be the best golfer he can be. And it just seems like every week something else happens.

"And I don't know if anyone else on tour has spoken up for him, but I definitely feel for him a little bit. ... I think he's trying to become better and he's trying to learn from his mistakes, and I think everyone should give him a chance to try to do that."

The PIP might be the worst idea the Tour has ever had. Cantlay might get hate for being stony on the course but he seems like a nice dude and he's right on this imo.

https://sports.yahoo.com/rory-mcilroy-p ... 16130.html
“Naturally, of course, there is some sympathy because you don't want to see anybody have a bunch of people be against you or even be heckled,” Cantlay said. “Unfortunately, it might be a symptom of a larger problem, which is social media driven and which is potentially Player Impact Program derived.

“I think when you have people that go for attention-seeking maneuvers, you leave yourself potentially open to having the wrong type of attention, and I think maybe that's where we're at and it may be a symptom of going for too much attention.”

The Player Impact Program was created by the Tour this year to recognize those who bring added value to the circuit via five categories, including Google searches, Q Rating, Nielsen Brand Exposure rating and various social media engagement measurements.

Why can't they just copy what the European Tour does?

The full text of Cantlay's monologue is here. Dude is certainly a good speaker.

Lol, this dude doesn't get it.

Compares himself to Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos

He's a terrible speaker, or a bad liar.

That interview was as PR-laced as it could have been. A couple of the things he said about treating others the way you want to be treated make sense and there isn't near enough of that out there. But the smiling seemed very fake especially after what I've seen out of him in Memphis and Baltimore. The only time I've seen that smile was when he was messing with the fans on the first tee Saturday and Sunday with which club he was gonna pull. When he pulled iron on Saturday, they groaned and he joked with them. On Sunday, he pulled iron again, they groaned and then he put it back in the bag and pulled driver and got them all revved up.

Steve Stricker held a dinner last night for the 6 automatic qualifiers for the Ryder Cup team. This included Bryson and Brooks. Waiting to hear about anything that might have come out of that.

According to Grint, which listed my running average handicap at 13 going into today's round, I have shot under Net Par for the first time ever, with a +11 83 today. Was about 2.5 feet from draining a 182 yard 5-iron for eagle on the 11th. Just had two 3 putts for bogey on par 3s and one double on a par 5.

Breaking 80 is close. Maybe before this year is over.

A lot of people say it's easier to break 80 when you can see the hole

Neither Hill Crest CC nor Westmoreland CC has been mentioned in this thread. If you want the opportunity to play either one let me know, I'll bring you on as a guest for one of my upcoming VGA tournaments.

Sunday Sept 12th at Hill Crest CC. Green fees are $48 due at the course. Tee times start at 12:15pm.
Monday Sept 13th at Westmoreland CC. Green fees are $70, due at the course. Price includes golf and range with a 12:00pm start.

Let me know by Sept 8th so I can have you added to the tee sheet in time. I can take one guest per year and only have a few events left in 2021.

Carded a 76 today at Glengarry. The first bit in this video was a bit of a game changer for me, letting the club do the work and not swinging down on the short wedges led to much success (2 tap in birdies). Just need this successful adjustment to hold for the next two weekends.

There have been four 65s at East Lake this week. Rahm has two of them. When he is on he is stupid good.

Still one shot back of Cantlay going into the weekend thanks to the points lead bonus but already looking like a match play situation. Next closest person is five shots back.

got a tee time for Waiehu Muni in Maui tomorrow. I couldn’t justify bringing my golf shoes (or using shipsticks) for one round so we’ll see how it goes. The course looks gorgeous (right on the ocean) but it’s gonna be windy as tits tomorrow. Hopefully I donate some to the sealife

Getting out today for the first time in a month. I've been practicing in my backyard with those Almost Golf balls and I feel like I've made a ton of progress with my irons. Was seriously considering just hitting 4 iron off the tee as much as possible. Quietly hoping this is the day I break 100.

Found this series of videos. Shiels is a great teacher... This is the best driver series I've found.

Good luck. It's very okay to leave the driver at home. That's what worked for me.
I like Rick a lot, he's in my top 3 of golf Youtube channels.

Jealous, MiMH. I wonder what kind of rental clubs you'll get.

The USA Solheim Cup uniform makes them look like flight attendants.
