These greens are borderline gimmicky; might as well be mini-golf. Put a windmill out there.

It’s called sloping greens. TV doesn’t do it justice how hilly this place is plus the greens are running 14.

Rain expected tomorrow and Saturday that may take a little fire out.

When you're hitting perpendicular to the line to the hole, it's a gimmick.

Dechambeau 40 on the front. LOL.

Also, Langer's ability to consistently shoot near even par on this course at his age is nothing short of remarkable

whenever I see a pro do that I really want to try the putt. I can’t imagine I’d have a putt that bad but I’m also not a pro

I guess they don’t have ridges on the greens you play. Either that or you’re a terrible reader of a green.

I don’t think dodint golfs often. I think he said he was slowly getting back into it

Yes, I'm an unsophisticated follower of golf. I turned it on (when it was actually on TV, you'd think if it were that important it would be televised in its entirety) as an alternative to the music I usually listen to during the workday. That said, I can also clearly see this setup is clownshoes. It's boring to watch because it appears to be a joyless pursuit by everybody involved.

You (OP) keep countering my opinion by explaining what is plainly obvious. It's not that I don't know what is going on. I just think it's stupid and arbitrary.

The Masters reminds me of the Daytona 500 or the Kentucky Derby. The venue itself isn't inherently special. Just a whole lot of people that really want the event to be on a pedestal so they expend a lot of energy fluffing it. OP appears to be a fabulous fluffer. Explain more about how terrain works; sloping greens! We don't have that here at our golf courses in the Laurel Highlands, it only exists in the piedmont of Georgia. Ohhhh, ahhhhh.

Before I get too into this. Dodint is your criticism here directed at pin placement/greens conditions in this particular Masters or Augusta National in general as a course?

Augusta National, generally.

It's not worth getting into. And I hadn't planned on dumping on the event in full, that's not fair to people who are trying to enjoy it. I don't react particularly well to condescension, particularly in that kind of context. But I guess that fits The Masters vibe. I shouldn't have gone on that petty digression.
I'm into some stuff that would bore the majority of the people here to tears, so I get that this doesn't have to be my cup of tea. To me there is a disconnect between the forced atmosphere around this event and how the course itself is constructed. Like a clown in a tuxedo; how are you supposed to perceive it.

I don't have anything of value to add here so I'll peace out. Enjoy the show.

Justin Rose, coming off a neck injury that knocked him out of Bay Hill, on a 8-under heater thru a 9-hole stretch. If his score holds, it would be the 4th time he holds a piece of the first round lead, tied with some guy named Jack Nicklaus.

Posted before @shafnutz05 could kibosh him. =)

There were a couple pins today that bordered on impossible with the green speeds. So I could have agreed with that, which is why I asked

Make that -9 in last 10 for Rose.

As well as Spieth is playing, there's no way I would take him over JT at +1100. If I was going to take someone at +2000 or lower, I would take Cantlay.
I really like Cantlay this week. Well, I did.

Humblebrag of the day...not by me, though:

All of the caddies have numbers. Those numbers indicate the order in which each player registered. The defending champion always gets #1. For the ceremonial tee shots, the caddies wear the ages of the individuals involved. So today, Lee Elder's caddy had 86, Gary Player's caddy had 85, but Jack Nicklaus's granddaughters didn't wear 81. Instead, one wore 6 and the other wore 18. Just a subtle reminder.

Jack Nicklaus was also asked about caddies and made it into a story about himself by saying how the caddy he had didn't want to take Jack's bag again because he worked too hard. Jack likes the attention

I mean I agree. When I’m golfing, one or two holes with a impossible pin placement on a slope is fun. But when I play six holes in a row and it’s nigh impossible to less than two putt, it’s annoying
