I don't think Americans care much for the British Open. I love it but I am not sure it has broad appeal in this era. Good numbers for the PNC either way.

Happy bday to me. I went to my fitter to pick up a 54 wedge I was having extended and re gripped. Turns out the 50 that I ordered from Ping in early December, the set matched one, came in. So I get to play with it tomorrow. Not bad for a discontinued club.

Celebrating my birthday tomorrow. Rented two hours of sim time at a sports bar. Going to play the Old Course at St. Andrews and hang with some family and friends.

I love waking up with the leaders just teeing off as opposed to waiting til 3pm. But also that means I'm watching about half as much golf. Same as the 2 round PNC I guess.

That'll be a good time. Happy early bday broseph

This just jumped at me in one of the Czech tabloids. Because I noticed there are fans of her on this board, enjoy:

I wonder what the British Open numbers would look like if Tiger had participated in it

I love that Daly and his son won. Didn't even see how his kid looked.

What were the tee box setups for the pnc thing?

Basically, what was the different between what the tweens were playing from versus Daly’s kid? Obviously meaningless, but I just saw that daly jr was a top ranked amateur coming out of Florida. Just wondering how they parse that.

Daly Jr was playing it all the way back. JD was playing one box up which was probably about 6500 yards. Nelly played from that one as well. Charlie and Stenson's kid played 2 boxes up which was about 6100 yards. Player and Trevino played all the way up which was about 5700 yards.

Gracias, that definitely makes sense. And Daly II is definitely a baller.

Thanks, man. My family caught onto my golf resurgence. I was gifted several pairs of pants, shorts, and some long sleeve tops that I really like. My favorite is a green one from Callaway; a color and brand I never would've picked out for myself but it fits perfectly and feels great. I'll probably wear it as a winter shirt even when not golfing.

Golf gifts are the best. Everything is so damn expensive and I don't feel like buying $80 polos so getting anything like that is always fun

I like Phil and therefore I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt that he was genuinely asking rather than “I know better than epidemiologists”

Why do people talk about the pandemic as though there are any restrictions?

Unless phil thinks we need purposely infect ourselves

I think Phil was genuinely curious... Not gonna kill him for it since he hasn't been vocal about this stuff before.

Unrelated to that, I also took a chance and bought an x-stiff PXG driver last week from 2ndSwingGolf. Golf clubs are like shoes to me, in the sense that I don't like buying them online unless I've tried out something similar beforehand. But I got a good deal on it and wanted to try a x-stiff driver. If I like it, I already have a buyer for my M2 that it would be replacing. If not, I'll sell the PXG and should be able to make my money back.
Took the new driver to TopGolf yesterday. The sound the PXG makes is similar to that of hitting a golf ball with an aluminum bat.

As for how the driver hit, I'm still not sure. I had a few that hit the fence on the fly, but their tees are really low for what I like to hit. Would be nice if they had a few options in the bay that were taller than 1/4 inch off the mat.
I’ve taken an older, yellow, square Nike Sasquatch driver out to the range many times. Turns heads… because of that unique sound.
What's funny is that I mentioned it to a few people around the office, and their reaction was like "oh, like ______'s driver?" Turns out that dude hits a Sasquatch, but it might even be louder than that.

If the forecast holds Friday looks like a sneaky good day to go out and play some New Years Eve golf. If anyone wants to play let me know, down for wherever. I'll probably end up at Glengarry if I don't have any takers.

Dude. Just don't loosen up with that and then go straight to the first tee. Guy I knew had one and I tried it out and that was a bad idea. It actually seems like a really good training aid just hit some normal shots after it before teeing off

You think a 4w would be a worthy compromise or is that being too cute? I ask because I'm going to pick up a G20 to match the driver, and for some reason, there are more 4w than 3w or 5w on the market.
I bought that 4w and played it on and off all summer. It had a really flexy shaft that could reach out to 215 when it went straight, clubhead speed around 92mph.
I decided to send it to Ping and have it reshafted with a stiff version of the 17h shaft that I have had some really positive results with late this year.

Amazing how much of a difference it made. Clubhead speed is up to 101mph and it reaches out to 245yd. I played 18 holes with it indoors tonight using it as my driver. No duffs, mishits, and it didn't slice at all. Shot a 39/40.

Really excited to try it outside on Friday. If I can get a tee off club that reliably gets out to 220yd that would-be huge for my game next season.

Justin Thomas looks about as miserable as anyone could look on a golf course.

Hovland is one of my favorites (big Ping guy) and he is killing it this week, good stuff.
