7i or 8i depending on how much of the travel I want to have in the air. I holed out a nice 8i yesterday from the rough, maybe 15 yards of total travel. What club do you use for your bump & runs inside 30

Oh so you actually did hole out and that wasn't Grint being weird. Nice!
And I'm the LW on that chart. Have almost gotten it down to a science.

I'm still figuring out my 60 degree feel shots. Love my full swing with it though

Show me a player that hits full wedge shots, I want to play them for money - Ben Hogan

I don't have a 60 in my bag anymore. I went to a 54 and haven't missed the 60.
I'm not criticizing the 60 or anyone's use of it. The best way I've had the 7i/8i shot explained was that a miss with the 7i will be much closer to the desired path than a miss with the wedge, so that's what I'm going for. I very rarely do the 6" duff with a 7i but did it with the wedges all the time.

I used to be able to hit that 7/8 bump and run but I lost the feel for it. The last couple times I've hit I've either been woefully short or too long.
KC, I got my 60 feel and touch down by hitting shots off the shaggy carpet in my parents' basement before I moved out 3ish years ago. Just short, maybe 20 feet max into some cushions, always on the roll. Also used to set up a bucket in the backyard and try to land my chips around it.

I have a back yard that is perfect for wedge practice. Right behind the house is a 60ft wide flat space that spans the property. Then there is a 60 yard downhill to the property line. Put a marker halfway down the hill at 30y and then chip up the hill. It's effectively simulating an elevated green which is one of my toughest shots, as I have to use my 54 in that case, can't bump over a true hill.

My brother's girlfriend's little sister is at PA states today. They have a live scoring page but her group is the only group that isn't entering their scores. Fun

I could probably blade that thing 200 yards

Indoor league is weird. The putting is all wrong. The screen is 10ft away. I needed to put 7ft. My ball went beyond 7ft and struck the screen. The simulator said I hit it short.
Other than that it was surprisingly true to life. I warmed up for 20 minutes and then carded a 9 on the first hole because I topped the first few shots and then dealt with the **** up putting. Settled in after that and shot a 51.
Once I get a hang of the putting I think I'll be in the low 40s pretty consistently.

putting to a screen sounds dreadful

I don't golf, but I do like to find content that a lessons that can be applied across disciplines. So I've been binging Rick Shiels vids the last few nights, good stuff. The focus on improvement, on thinking creatively to challenge yourself.

The putting is hard on those. When we play we set auto-gimmies to anything within 9 feet

I'd prefer it to be automatic two-putt once you're on the green but I don't make the rules.putting to a screen sounds dreadful
We do 6ft gimmes. My partner has done this before and was actually holing out.
I was very pleasantly surprised to see that my 7i bump and run registered correctly.
tif, Rick is good content. I would also suggest Golf Sidekick if you're looking for mental readiness stuff. It's almost more philosophy than technical golf. Plus most of his stuff is shot in Thailand and South Africa so the scenery is pretty cool.

Noted, thanks for that.

I have a tendency to fall in love with brands. Whether it be racing, clothes, golf, whatever. I have to draw a line somewhere though:
Ping sent me an e-mail. They're selling these alignment stick covers for $35, each.

Weird... I'm more or less brand indifferent. My driver, wedges, irons, woods, and putter are all from different brands.
I think I'm that way in life too. About the only things that I'm brand loyal to are peanut butter and ketchup. Not mixed together.

It's probably the tribalism of racecar life leaking into my golf.
I'm not unwilling to try other things, though. My driver and putter are Cleveland. And my clothes are Adidas and Walter Hagen. All of my other clubs are Ping, though.

I tend to be very brand loyal. Cobra woods. Cobra irons (used to have Callaway and would go back to them). Callaway wedges. Putter doesn’t matter because putting is the worst.

I was a little obsessed with Nike golf 6 years ago. My irons/wedges are a Nike set and I used to buy the Nike golf balls up until they stopped making golf equipment
but now I'm a Kirkland kind of guy

I bought the Cleveland putter used because I'm tired of spending money on golf this year and I really want an Evnroll ER2. I will probably get that for myself as a gift for breaking 90, eventually.

Calloway Woods and Taylor Made Iron.
I actually just swapped putters with my friend. We did a mini golf retreat last weekend at Gull Lake Resort in MI, played 45 holes in two days. It might just be on a temporary basis, but he had just got a Ping putter this season and I just got the TM spider. Could just be temporary, but I think there was a notable difference for both of us after swapping at the back 9. But, I think it's fair to say that I would not have any brand loyalty for for golf clubs.
