In baseball, you can wear wires and can bang trash cans all the way to the World Series. In football, you can take so much HGH that your head might explode.

In golf, you lose two strokes because some jabroni spots 4 grains of sand being touched on a backswing.

Yes, I'm an unsophisticated follower of golf. I turned it on (when it was actually on TV, you'd think if it were that important it would be televised in its entirety) as an alternative to the music I usually listen to during the workday. That said, I can also clearly see this setup is clownshoes. It's boring to watch because it appears to be a joyless pursuit by everybody involved.

You (OP) keep countering my opinion by explaining what is plainly obvious. It's not that I don't know what is going on. I just think it's stupid and arbitrary.

The Masters reminds me of the Daytona 500 or the Kentucky Derby. The venue itself isn't inherently special. Just a whole lot of people that really want the event to be on a pedestal so they expend a lot of energy fluffing it. OP appears to be a fabulous fluffer. Explain more about how terrain works; sloping greens! We don't have that here at our golf courses in the Laurel Highlands, it only exists in the piedmont of Georgia. Ohhhh, ahhhhh.
I know that part of the dodint schtick is to be both negative and a contrarian. But this take is on Jim/Shmengy levels of bad takes. Saying Augusta (the course itself, not the event) is overhyped and a clown show is really not all that much different than going to the Grand Canyon and saying its a hole in the ground.

literally could not tell in that video where he touched the sand

golf needs to move away from hyper nitpicky calls like that

You can see there's a little mound behind his ball at the beginning of the clip and then when he takes his actual backswing it's gone. But still. Thumbs down

Yeah this isn't Fatrick Reed scooping away enough sand to comfortably fit his club behind the ball.

Rose bogeys the 4th...very ugly putt from off the green that didn't even make it to the green surface itself.

That was exactly my thought too. Obviously he is 50 now so he was going to fade eventually, but he has fell off a cliff the last few years.

Still can't believe he never won a U.S. Open. 2013 at Merion was awful.

It's funny to me though that Phil obliterated the one Senior Tour event he played but struggles with regular tour events.

I don't even know if I'd call his game "getting old" because he's hitting it further than ever. It's just that Phil is wild by nature so Phil hitting it further just gets him into more trouble. It was a bad idea for his game to chase distance

“Old” probably isn’t the best term. He just can’t save his ass the way he used to. It’s tough to watch. He’s as long as ever, but nothing in his rescue or short game seems to go right for him anymore.

it's weird how that happens. the first shot today I saw was Vijay at 4 and he missed the green by 30 yards to the right. wasn't even close. I guess you just lose a lot of strength at maintaining your swing path and it ends up as an erratic or inconsistent shot as you age

Probably a good call. I could see a definite benefit to Fred Funk-ing from tee to green as age progresses.

I don't want to jinx him....but wow from Wiesberger today. This is the same guy that had an eagle putt yesterday which he putted into the water. Six birdies through ten holes, including the ridiculous 5th.

Holy sht...did you see Rose's putt? It got almost to the hole, and then proceeded to roll almost the whole way back to him. He killed it too.

The pin placement on 6 is the worst spot on that green. There’s a square about 10 feet by 10 feet to hit it to or it rolls to the left front of green. If you’re putting from there, you have to bash it to get there. That one I would agree if someone called it a clownshoes green.

Annoying Masters feed audio...the volume is WAY louder on the "Featured Groups" feed than the Amen Corner feed and others.
