That was a painful collapse by Piercy today. It's getting a lot of play on Twitter

My producer texted me to ask how Piercy’s foot was and I said that it was probably broken from kicking the tournament away. He didn’t talk after the round but I gotta think that getting put on the clock on 10 tee rattled him a bit. From that point in, he made mistake after mistake when all he had to do with a 4-shot lead was continue to hit the middle of the green.

What a round this was today. The last year on the golf course has been rather pitiful for me. Where used to breaking 80 was the goal every time out, now I'm just happy if I can get it near 85. Got some Mavricks earlier this month (driver, 3 & 5 wood) so still getting used to those. But my biggest problem has always been making mistakes worse instead of just trying to hit greens and go from there. Today, I went out in +1 and really only made one dumb course management mistake that I nearly erased with a fringe putt for par. But then I got to the back 9 and the shanks arrived. At times on the range if I hit too many 7's or 8's, I start hitting some ugly ones. No idea why as the swing feels the same. Anyway, was in advantageous positions off the tee on the first 3 holes on the back and shanked at least one shot on each of those holes. As a result of that and a couple of late 3-putt greens, the first sub-80 round in 3 years will have to wait another round.

Golf is **** stupid.
Played on one leg today and shot one stroke over my scoring average and 18 shots better than the only other time I have played at that course. Last time I played there was very early last year before I started lessons.
So I am a much, much better ball striker since early 2021. But not enough for it to matter how many limbs I use. WTF?

So I shot nothing but 4's and 8's yesterday except for hole 8.
8-4-8-4-8-4-4-6-4
Probably the best I played all year if you don't include how poorly I chipped. I probably pissed away 6 strokes thanks to poor chipping. I needed about 20 ft to get to the green and probably 50 to the pin on two of the holes. Nope, we're doing 5 foot chips.

I had a very disappointing collapse in my last round. 38 on the front, would have been completely clean but missed the green on both par 3's. Birdied 10 to get to +1, hit a straight drive on 11, to have an open approach shot, but chunked it, and was somehow not able to see where it went, then went on to shoot an 82 with nothing better than bogey on the remaining holes. I not sure why I stopped caring, but even when I got a GIR, I would just 3-putt.

Yup. It was somehow the most relaxing round I've had in years despite the physical difficulties. You went out with no expectations

Came into the office to take the two interns in our practice to lunch, a third one from another practice tagged along because no one from his group was in the office today. Golfing comes up in conversation, kid asks me where I like to play, when I relay the question back, he casually drops that he's a member at Oakmont.

Insane consistency. That's what separates Tour pros from scratch golfers. They are practicing all day every day virtually.

Just checked the LIV board. Patrick Reed winning and Phil just about dead last. I wonder how long his teammates on the *checks notes* Hy Flyers will feel about dragging his carcass around every tournament?

I got to play Olde Stonewall on Friday. The rest of my day could have been trash, but all I wanted to do was clear the gap on #16 from the epic tees. I'm proud to say that not only did I clear it, I was able to make the fairway by about 10 yards.
Now the friend that I was golfing with, he totally crushed it. Carried a few yards short of the 150 marker and ended up about 128 out.
