Yes. We got to the tee box behind a group of 4 old old men and heard then have about a 2 minute debate about whether to let us go in front of them. They did. We never saw them again.

Free flowing until about the 8th hole when a 2 some was waiting on the tee box because another guy in their group **** his pants. Played through and rolled to the end.

Awesome, KC. Glad you enjoyed it. The members there are usually pretty decent, too.

16 is a fun par 3. My 7i is the perfect distance for it, one day I will get my alignment right.

I plan to play there tomorrow.

I think I like all the holes at Totteridge except the par 5's, the two on the front both suck

Had a real nice round today, right up until the sustained 25mph crosswind showed up for the last three holes.

My chipping game took a big step forward now that I benchmarked my distances. I think part of that is knowing the distances, and the other part having confidence that the stroke won't blast through the green since you know it is rated a certain distance. Should have done it sooner.

Wanted to post something positive for a change.

I spent all summer trying to find out a solution for hitting over 200. I worked out a 4w, 19h, 20h, 2i driving iron, 3i, as well as my original driver and my new driver. Each club could get the ball out well over 220 much probably only 20% of the time. In a final effort, I decided to buy a 17h that matches the 27h that I hit really well. If I'm going to hit a hybrid I like one whose form is iron-based rather than wood-based, and my Ping G20s were the last Ping hybrids to keep that form factor; similar to the hybrids that Ben Hogan sells now. I picked one up for $55 on eBay; I didn't lengthen it so it's the same shaft length as my 27h; it just has a stiffer loft and heavier head.

This club just sings. I've struck it on course 35 times and from a tee or fairway lie it hasn't duffed once. When it does miss it hits a stinger about 140y which is a really good outcome. When I connect it blasts out to 220y+, even from the fairway. In the simulator, I can get it out over 250y. I'm happy with the distance but I'm ecstatic about the forgiveness in the misses. It's a very productive club and it allows me to relax for all of my shots in a round because I don't feel like I'm always about to throw myself in a hole. Very cool. I've said before I love fiddling with gear and it's fun that something actually worked out.

It should be a really useful approach club when I get my driver working next year.

Seems expensive from the research I've done however I'm not familiar with that brand. Either way you should buy it

It's about one-third the cost of the retail price for that unit.

What launch monitor are you thinking of if you think that is overpriced?

The GC Quad is $20k on it's own. The other end of the scale is the Garmin Approach R10 at about $600.

Well I guess I'm not sure what all is included there. Just the launch monitor? I'm looking at the mevo+ I think

It's a whole system:

Projection Screen/Net Enclosure (9ft x 12ft Projection Screen)
Putt Sensor & Platform
Power PC Computer
LCD Projector

This is the product page for those units: http://www.deadsolidgolf.com/

I was just curious what you had in mind. The expansion for our house includes a gym with a yoga space. I think I can dual purpose that space with a simulator pretty easily so I have a mild interest in learning more about this stuff.

Oh okay okay I see. Not bad. Honestly mevo+ or skytracker both have relatively decent packages for 5-8k all in. Golfsimulatorforum.com seems to be a good resource. I've poked around a bit but am gonna get more into it soon. The difference between mevo and the skytracker is that mevo gives club feedback (face to path, attack angle, club head speed) while skytracker just gives ball data. They both integrate with TGC 2019 so you can play basically any course in the world which will be cool too. I just have a detached garage that I do nothing with and figure if I'm gonna treat myself to something substantial, this is going to get the most use out of pretty much anything I'd consider

Was really happy to 'break' Totterdige today with a 47/50 for 97 today. Wedges were working, had six 1 putts and no 3 putts. That 17h was money all day as well. It would have been my best round of the year except I knew I had a 89 when starting 18 so I made a risky shot to get on the green with my approach and I ended up with three bunker shots for an 8. Golf has a way of punishing hubris.

That was likely my last outdoor round of the year, so it was extra sweet to achieve the goal of breaking 100 at that course.

I wrote this earlier in the year:
I told my instructor last night that before I met him my good strikes were 2 out of every 10. Now I'm up to 4-6 out of every 10. I think if I could get to 8/10 I'd be pretty content.
I feel like I am there. I am now more surprised when a shot goes wrong. I am not carving up courses, but I have a reliable repeatable swing that results in a predictable shot shape in the form of a nice little fade. At the beginning of the year I literally didn't know how to swing a club in a useful way.

Very happy.

That's a pretty damn great score at totter with Temps in the 40s for a guy that started golf like 8 months ago.

18 is a tough hole. I put up an 8 there the other day and my partner a 9 haha. Mine was due to topping my tee shot into the **** 50 yards from the tee box (unplayable), and then putting my 4th into the **** behind the green. He too hit his tee OB and then had at least 2 shots in those bunkers on the right...

Thanks. I don't have a lot of distance in my game so I probably didn't lose a lot of yardage from the cold. But I did make the mistake of leaving my balls and clubs in my trunk overnight. And the range is closed for the year. I was loosening up at the chipping green and the *clack* sound of those cold balls and club faces was very noticeable, like hitting wooden balls.
I set a personal best by making 5 pars, which made up for the two 7s and two 8s. I was only +4 through 6, started to think "no **** way I'm breaking 90, right?" and then carded an 8 to remind me of who I am.

That really blows getting caught in that mess up front, I did it a lot when I was topping everything.

If I'm not OB off the tee then I'm usually good for a 5, maybe 6 tops. I hit a nice drive today and was 200 out. I tried to play onto the green because there was a front pin. I haven't carded a single birdie all year and this was my last chance. Ended up slicing into that huge bunker on the right that your buddy found; I'm not sure I've ever been in there before. I'm a very good bunker player but I was just short getting out and it rolled back in from the grass, then I hit the lip on the next shot. Just weird like that. I should have played the 60 yards to the middle of the green instead of the 40 to the pin, was still acting greedy though.
