I was with him for 12 holes today. From a golf standpoint, everything looks pretty good. He was using a newly-accredited driver and the first ball he hit with it on the range had flames trailing from it. He did take a couple of holes off late in the round and he said afterwards that the only reason he can play out here is because of being able to use a cart. He said in the Bahamas two weeks ago and reiterated today that he doesn't have the endurance yet to compete normally. When he was walking around and was in 'golf mode', he looked pretty healthy. But then when he'd turn off golf mode, you could see the limp. But the skills have definitely not left him.

As for Charlie, he's really frickin good for his age. His ability from 70-100 yards is exquisite and I saw him nearly jar one from about 60 yards for eagle.

Any of you swing gurus know why I am getting up to 30 degrees of outside-in swing path, but only with my driving 2i? With the rest of my irons it is around 12 degrees which is my normal repeatable swing.

The ball goes out about 100 yards then takes a violent right turn and ends up somewhere between 180-210yds out and very right of the centerline. When I was hitting straight it would go out to 230 and be in the fairway.

This change happened literally overnight. I tried firming up my takeaway but that made it worse.

Charlie is a stud. I hope Tiger doesn't push him like his dad did and it doesn't appear that way. It seems like tiger only really pushes him as much as he wants so far. It Charlie loves the game and turns out pretty good, that would be cool. Can't imagine the pressure of being tigers son on the golf course

They were on the range after their round and Tiger was lounging up against his bag watching Charlie hit and simply told him, 'hit whatever shot you want but make sure it's pin high'.

That's fantastic. Already bracing myself for the moment Charlie runs off the tee and embraces his father. At that moment... I will be old

Watch this. Holy ****, Charlie is good. 11 birdies in a row, I don't care if it's a scramble, is nuts. Especially when one player is 12.

Unrelated to that, I also took a chance and bought an x-stiff PXG driver last week from 2ndSwingGolf. Golf clubs are like shoes to me, in the sense that I don't like buying them online unless I've tried out something similar beforehand. But I got a good deal on it and wanted to try a x-stiff driver. If I like it, I already have a buyer for my M2 that it would be replacing. If not, I'll sell the PXG and should be able to make my money back.
Took the new driver to TopGolf yesterday. The sound the PXG makes is similar to that of hitting a golf ball with an aluminum bat.

As for how the driver hit, I'm still not sure. I had a few that hit the fence on the fly, but their tees are really low for what I like to hit. Would be nice if they had a few options in the bay that were taller than 1/4 inch off the mat.

The saga of Charlie Woods will be interesting.
My father talked about what retirement looked like for him, and I was like, "Why don't you mention golf?"
His response was he took it up for business, and then only played to spend time with me. It wasn't any fun for him to just go play.

So there's a part of me that wonders if Charlie's love for the game is more like the only way he could ever spend a bunch of time with his Dad who was always at the range or on course. What happens when Tiger's outside the ropes, and he's old enough to be his own man?

There's a great line in Ted Lasso that says something to the effect of 'all kids really want is to be part of your life," and then Roy asks his niece if she wants to go to his podiatry appointment to which she gleefully agrees. Now that can certainly develop into a love for the game instilled at youth, or it could just be something to do with Dad.

Both are totally fine, and while Charlie is amazing today, I try to catch myself from thinking about what the scenes of tomorrow could be like. "Hit whatever shot you want," kid indeed.

My dad claims he golfed before my brothers and I took it up in the early 00s but I don’t know how much I believe it. The only times he golfs is when we golf with him

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for Charlie to have his own desire to golf though. Ken Griffey Jr. grew up all around baseball because of his dad and came to be one of the greatest players of alltime. You just need to make sure it isn’t an unhealthy Todd Marinovich thing and I think Tiger understands that which is cool

I’ve taken an older, yellow, square Nike Sasquatch driver out to the range many times. Turns heads… because of that unique sound.

How about this. I know there are a multitude of factors going into this, most notably the time difference. But still
