Well I mean if I had a round where everything was going right I could shave some off. But I have a tendency every round for about 3 holes where I start trying to kill everything and after about 3 or 4 chunks I finally stop myself and slow down and regroup. I've learned it's so much about repetition and like I said it's tough for me to get out some weeks, but even if I am maxed out I'm good with that because I can at least hang with my buds now and not look like an idiot.

You learn a lot about your game very quickly that can get you from the 120's down to the 80/90 range. The process is slow from there to get lower. That said, I haven't played in a long time and would be thrilled to be in the mid 80's again.

I've never broken 100 but I've also never played regularly. It's just infuriating because I've had all the individual components work at once where I can birdie a par 4 but then I'll go 9 on a different par 4. I never did get that optimal round where it all clicked and I laid down my potential score. I came close, once, shooting under 45 on the front but then I torpedoed the back and shot a 60 or so. Just 'blah.'

I hear you. I have a pretty bad slice off the tee, every time I think I have it figured out after hitting several nice, straight drives.....boom there go four in a row slicing like crazy. It's the nice ones that keep me coming back though, haha.

My problem is I just don't get out enough. I don't really have any friends that are local that also enjoy golfing. I feel weird going by myself, but I think I might start doing that more. Try and find a tee time for myself in the morning.

I really wanted to go solo before I got hired, but also felt weird trying to go by myself. Now that I work, I don't have any opportunity.

You should try it, it's really nice, can be more relaxing than playing around people. Plus if no one is in front of you, you can fly, I've finished 18 in just over two hours by myself.

Any of you have experience with the optishot 2? I know for $300 it's not gonna be accurate like a big time simulator, but it seems like it would be cool for keeping your swing in check over the winter months.

Truth be told, the couple of times I've done it, once I'm out there it is fantastic. It also lets me act out golf announcing on the course (which I've admittedly done). "Shafnutz05, looking at about 130 to the flagstick, going with a 9 iron..."

I'm always worried once I actually get to the course, someone else joined my tee time or they lump me with someone.

Once walked 9 holes in an hour and fifteen minutes. Good times.

I think next summer I'm going to get a membership somewhere and just go 2 or 3 times a week by myself. I miss golfing on the regs. I went out 3 times total this year, and one of those was a scramble.

Count me in the group that loves playing a round of golf solo. In a lot of ways I prefer it, much more relaxing and I really enjoy the quiet.

There's a course near me that is almost always empty on a Friday afternoon, loved it because I could get there at 5 and be done in such a reasonable time. I despise long rounds of golf in just about any circumstance, so playing at my own pace with no delays is the best.

I just checked the leaderboard...great round today :thumb: I was afraid it was going to be more of the same after his 73 yesterday.

He played well Thursday with the exception of finishing his last three holes with two doubles

Most importantly, it sounds like he finally had his "come to Jesus" moment with the ridiculous weight training, cardio, etc. I would think a little bit of strength training is beneficial, but not to the extent he was doing it. Would love to see him competitive throughout his 40s like Phil has been.

Speaking of which, if Phil Mickelson wins another major, he will surpass Nicklaus's record set at the 1986 Masters for the oldest winner. I think he has a better shot than any golfer in recent memory to do that. He's had a Top 3 in a major every year in his 40s, including two wins.

He won a British Open basically playing small ball the entire 4 days. It's shocking it's taken this long for him to make this transition. Ego is a helluva drug, though.

Julus Boros won the 1968 PGA at age 48 so Phil still has a couple of years to go to get the all-time record.
