After a very blah start, made par or better on 12 of the final 14 holes, including 2-under on the last 8 to card an 81. Might be a breakthrough. Might be a an outlier blip. But damn, it felt pretty nice to watch the ball go where it was supposed to on those last 8 holes.
Meanwhile at Memorial, Horschel rebounded from that 84 with a 72 today. Even worse was Chad Ramey's 88 on Thursday, which included a 13 on the 9th hole courtesy of 4 balls in the water AND a 3-putt. He came back with a 74 today. Just like us.

2 under over an 8 hole stretch is a great feeling. My record stretch like that is 1 over through 7 and it felt amazing.

Good stuff OP. Played the worst round in years last Saturday and could not get anything fixed, and played just about lights out today. Feels good. Summer is more fun when the golf game is not in shambles

What's a "light's out" round for ulf? ~75?
I was once -1 after 10, then proceeded to implode. I would guess it feels better to finish like that, than to play a clean front and then butcher the back. It is amazing how hard it is to string together 18 good holes.
Playing Cranberry Highlands tomorrow for the first time, looks like a pretty short course. Anyone familiar with the layout? My understanding is that it's also pretty open.

Cranberry highlands is one of the better public courses around
The old guys that run the places are miserable boomers
I wouldn't say it's particularly wide open. There are holes that have a generous fairway but there are plenty of opportunities to send balls into the woods.

Off the top of my head, all the old farts at the courses around are miserable, except the Pheasant Ridge guy. He always seems nice.

+6 but I was +6 on the par 3s so even on the other 14. So almost there. This was after a 91 last Saturday so it felt nice.
I played cranberry a few years ago and I remember really liking it, but I don't remember many specifics to share

There's a par 5 on Cranberry Highlands early that reminds me of #2 at Pittsburgh National.
Otherwise, it is (IMO) Totteridge-like in that some holes have trees on one side, but it's largely open into other holes on the opposite side.

Is your simulator still up and running? How often do you find yourself in there playing if so?

Cranberry highlands is "open" but there's a lot of fescue so not a ton of margin for error off the fairways

Yeah, that totteridge comp makes sense. Might be a lot of irons off the tee

41 players spread from -6 to -1. 16 through 18 are going to create high drama tomorrow.

Company golf outing today. Our team played pretty well. 6 under (7 birds, 1 bogey). I think it was enough for second place of the 8 teams.
My iron play was really helpful. Putting the ball on the green in regulation on nearly every hole and in a very puttable spot on just over half of them.
Now if I could sort out my driver, we’d be in business.

I'd definitely put Cranberry Highlands up there with Totteridge as the two top public spots, fun track and in amazing shape.
I stayed out of the fescue all day, but in the fairway bunkers a lot. 5 par threes on that course, and every one of them was tough for me, missed the green every time and played a collected +6 on them. 81 overall, A 38 on the back salvaged what was shaping up to be a miserable afternoon.

Kind of insane how bad Scheffler is at putting. He has lost almost eight strokes to the field on the green and is T2.

And then promptly puts it way right on 18. That's going to be a near impossible par.Hovland makes it interesting at least

Rose Zhang just did the unthinkable. First woman to win in her first professional start since Beverly Hanson in 1951.
Incredible what she has already accomplished at age 20
