They had like what, one third down conversion in the second half? That's just abysmal.

I bet they lose their next 5. Three of which will be by two scores at least.

This is nitpicking, but the gap between Najee Harris and Nick Chubb is huge.

Najee was a luxury for a team that can't afford it.

Steelers haven't drafted a lineman in the first or second round since 2012.

I'm just hoping they don't convince themselves they can bargain hunt going forward and deal with patchwork lines.

Muth was a luxury if you're going to use him 1-3 times a game, and not get him involved like immediately.

It's the old Lions philosophy of drafting every (first name) Williams WR that's good. If you never draft linemen, your skill players can't use their skill. Steelers are decent at WR, RB and TE, but there are large pieces missing in the cog to get that machine rolling.

It doesn't help that you spent first round picks on Terrell Edmunds, Devin Bush, and Artie Burns.

The talking heads like Ray Fittipaldo covering for Mitch Trubisky is downright embarrassing

Just blaming the defense for everything. They let up, what 20 points? Like do people realize it’s 2022 and there isn’t a defense in the league that can win games consistently?

Also to add, the offensive line essentially played lights out last night. Mitch was NRVER touched. Any decent QB and OC would have carved up the browns with that amount of time last night

I believe it was 1 all game, 1 for 9.

To point to KTK's comment about Najee and Chubb - Warren fared better as a runner last night than Najee did.

An undrafted guy showed up almost as good if not better than Najee. A first round pick on an RB seems useless.

Yes.

Also, Pickett could've been had in the second round.

From Twitter

The #Steelers offense has an average game time of possession of 24:15, over a full minute less than the worst mark in the NFL in 2021.

The last time a team finished an NFL season with a worse time of possession was expansion team Cleveland in 1999.

Yeah, and if this continues one more week, that's a quarter of an NFL season, not really a SSS item anymore.

Canada should have already been fired, and I assume a new coordinator would quickly move Mitch out.

Mitch looked good on like three passes. All of them we designed “get him out of the pocket and on the move” plays.

Draft picks are a crapshoot, even in the NFL. Just reviewing the last 7 picks by the Patriots in the first round, they aren't faring too well either.

2014 Dominique Easley
2015 Malcom Brown
2018 Isaiah Wynn, Sony Michel
2019 N'Keal Harry
2021 Mac Jones
2022 Cole Strange
2016, 2017, 2020 No pick

Setting more records:

the Steelers are gaining an average of just 23.7 yards per drive

the Steelers are also going 3-and-punt on 32% of their drives

both are the worst marks for Pittsburgh since at least 2000

The defense will be worn down and injured if the offense can't stay on the field.

For a team that builds through the draft. The steelers really haven't been that great at a quick glance in the last like 10 years.

Draft Class - how many players still make an impact today with the Steelers:

2022 - TBD
2021 - 7 out of 9, 4 starters.
2020 - 3 out of 6, 2 starters.
2019 - 4 out of 9, 2 starters.
2018 - 4 out of 7, 2 starters.
2017 - 2 out of 8, 2 starters.
2016 - 0 out of 7, no starters.
2015 - 0 out of 8, no starters.

So not really a good track record at building depth I think. This also doesn't count for players who left like Connor, JuJu - who did put years in.

From like 2016-2014, just trash drafts all around lol.

An average NFL career is only 3 and a bit seasons.

Well yea, that's why I only went back so far. Guess how many Offensive Lineman were draft in that time that stuck around with the Steelers. Okrafor, Moore, Greene, Dotson.

Since 2016 - the Steelers have drafted 6 OL - out of 53 total picks. 3 are starters, 1 back-ups (bust potential), 2 no longer play football.

If the foundation of the team starts in the trenches, the Steelers have failed miserably on the most critical side of the ball, imo.
