I meant as a collective and a reflection of their circumstance, not the individual players or coaches. K was just about the only bright spot on the team this year and his groin fell out, probably from overuse. It's tough to find anything to root for. I'm not even excited at the idea Watt might be back because he'll just get injured again.
I think kicker on a bad team is just as important as a closer on a bad baseball team. 3 points here and there aren't going to win/lose you games. The Steelers are losing by multiple scores, nothing a kicker can do to help that.

Edit: saw your reply to skullman and now it makes sense :lol:

Ehhh....

OK, similar side bar. I just rewatched the highlights of the 2002 playoff game against the Ravens. Talk about having a kicking problem.

My point still stands though. Does it really matter, for non-betting purposes, who their kicker is? They aren't winning anything substantial this year, and probably better that they lose for the draft position

I don't think anyone argued that the Steelers weren't a bad team.

You asked me to say why I thought they were hateable. It's because they're failing in all facets of the game. We're saying the same thing, no? Just with different degrees of acceptance.

As bad as they are they could be 5-3 with as close as these games are, and with that kind of margin losing your above-average kicker is a factor.

Betting aside, this team is ass at drafting so it's not like I care where they're going to draft next year. Right now I'm likely just rooting for them to not come in behind the Browns.

Eh for me a losing team isn’t hateable. A hateable team is AB, Bell, Ben, Claypool, etc.

Claypool wasn't hateable imo, just very immature.

He exhibits toddler behavior which puts him pretty high on the list of hateable things.

Kazee being there is/was a huge underrated get and front office/Tomlin deserve credit for that.

If the Steelers screw this up and end up with a mid round first pick again, that's gonna be real annoying.

Yeah but can we start that next year? I wanted to lose more this year.
Eh if I’m going to watch, I’d rather watch them win. I’ve never been able to root for draft placement.
So, for those of us with a degenerate rooting interest trying to get to 8+ wins, this is how an optimist views the rest of the season where you need 5-3:

Need to win:

@Indianapolis
@Atlanta
@Carolina
Las Vegas

Should win:
Cleveland

Would be really nice to get one from this batch:
@Baltimore
Cincinnati
Baltimore

I'd really enjoy them winning against the Bengals again for a bunch of reasons.
They probably lose one of the games between Atlanta/Carolina, and the Cleveland game is an end of season toss-up.
I can't see them beating Baltimore unless the defense does something special.

I mentioned before this team could be an ugly 6-3 right now given how close the games are. I don't think it's out of the question to go 5-3 down the stretch. Of course, they don't have a kicker for a while. But they have Watt for the time being and adding Minkah back to the secondary should only make it better.
