They want fresh blood in there. PSU Washington would be a great matchup.

Michael Penix revenge game?

Bo Nix redux?

Man, the comments on that Marcello tweet- tell me you have an inflated view of where your program stands on the national football landscape without telling me you have an inflated view of where your program stands on the national football landscape.

OSU asked the rose bowl to take ups if OSU misses out on the playoff. Guess there isn't much fan appetite to go back to CA back to back years

Lame. Not that I like CFB but this just makes the regular season even more pointless.

I would be happier with 8 but an actual playoff is a good thing.

Hard Pass. There's no way we even need 8 teams. There's been significantly more snoozers in the semi's than expected and it ain't gonna get better by adding more. 3 of 16 games were decided by 1 possession. Typically they average 21 points. The #4 seed has won just 2 out 8 times.

The only thing this hopefully does is keep guys from sitting out bowl games before going pro (or even to a different school with a bigger NIL contract). While I don't begrudge them for watching out for themselves, it obviously takes a lot of luster away from bowl season.

PSU Rose Bowl + Rose Parade is high on my bucket list but I have two children in college so I'm broke... hopefully the opportunity comes up again before I'm not around anymore.

I guess I don't understand the argument against turning no stakes bowl games into actual stakes bowl games. What do you guys have against fun?

The quality of teams isn't linear. The line from #1 to #12 is a pretty dramatic drop. For the sake of this discussion, let us assume it's straight 1-12 that gets in. Today that means Alabama, Tennesse, and Penn State gets in at 8, yay for you. But who is sitting at the cutoff at 12? A fight between Utah, Kansas State, Florida State, both Oregons, and UCLA are all at 9-3. That's the part of the field that we'll have to pretend we're interested in because the drama is at the cutoff. If it were happening this year we'd be talking about a way for Norte Dame to back in at 8-4. I don't care, at all. This isn't NCAA BB where you're going to get big upsets on the regular.

Six teams is the sweet spot, IMO. Gives a bye to the top teams and still lets quality programs into the playoff. We'd be talking about whether or not it's right for Alabama to be ahead of Tennesse right now. At least that's compelling.

Might as well have an 8 game season and do a 32-team playoff with a loser bracket. That's obviously not tenable because you need to have more of a static schedule than that but it sure is inclusive.

8 teams is perfect. 5 conference champs and 3 at large. You want in? win your conference. Beyond that, you’re just hoping.

Agree that 8 would've been the sweet spot. I'm still not going to complain about having bowl games that teams actually care about though. And I do think you'll see some fun upsets every now and then.

Will the regular season be shortened since they're adding in the possibility of playing 3 or 4 more games?

Just the highest G5 champ. I think it's fair. Some years like this you get Tulane but some years you'd get a Cinci or UCF that's a top 5-8 team
