also Pitt may or may not be that good, but dropping 8 spots from the preseason ranking with one loss to the #8 team in OT with a backup QB is some BS imo. If they were in the SEC they'd comfortably be in the top 20
It's nonsense.

Don't know if you guys are on pantherlair or not, but for years, people complained that they wanted night games, and the noon/1pm kickoffs sucked, and 3:30 wasn't even that great, although better than 1. And now we get a night game that is not Thursday night, and now everyone is pissed.

Not directing that at either of you guys or anyone, just funny how things change.
I'm not anymore, at least not the paid site. But, 8pm vs VT or Miami or WV is a lot of fun. 8pm against GT kinda sucks. Fwiw, 3:30 is my favorite time slot

I could see not wanting 8pm when the games take like five hours.

Wow. I knew the coach was a given, but surprised by the AD.

Yeah, that's the shitty part. Heck, I don't want noon for a 4-5 hour game, like they all seem to be.

Snap, the ball, big play, review for an hour, next play, snap the ball, someone gets hurt and lays on teh ground. Snap the ball again, 3 minute media timeout, only to come back and review the play. It takes like 25 minutes to get a 3 and out in sometimes.

I'll fully admit, I'm turning into an old fart. I'm not looking forward to the 8 pm start, but I'm going to go. 5 or so years ago, this would be an all day event ending with me figuring out how to get home at midnight. Now, I want to go to bed by 10.

I don't mind anything being at 8, it's the fact that this just isn't a big game. WVU was an event with a lot of hype and a big day. GT stinks and no one is excited for this one. I'd rather have a noon game and do something fun at night

Disagree sir. Most fun things in the fall take place during the day

That being said, no one wants to be up until 1 am for a Georgia tech game

Huh, this wasn't posted this morning. Also love the time. Lets my kids do their sports in the morning, then a little tailgating before the game. And they'll get to sleep in the car on the way home.

I dont really care about rankings, but even with wins over GT and VT, I dont see pitt jumping up the rankings a whole lot. I suppose winning games against Louisville (which would be a real problem with the injuries on the DL), Syracuse (because they are now “good”), and i suppose the U and other coastal opponents. We may play 12 games and still not know if this is a good team.

Pitt really should end up no worse than 10-2 or 9-3 worst case imo

this is where I envisioned the Panthers when most folks thought we should be happy to be a 6-8 win team every year. It's not terribly difficult to get 9 a year in this division with an outlier like 2021 occasionally when the stars align

The injuries are the key factor IMO. I mean we are down like 4 or 5 top Dlinemen on defense, and this defense is 100% built on them getting to the QB. Hopefully some guys are coming back, but you saw even against RI, as we are getting down the depth chart, the lack of pressure on the QB hurts the rest of the D.

That can kill us as we play some better QBs.

as the depth charts and injury updates from Duzz are worthless - is there a summary of injuries out there for someone who might have been golfing during the URI game?

From what I've heard, Danielson has a torn calf and should be out 8 weeks and Hammond has a high ankle sprain and was expected out 6 weeks. The rest, I'm not 100% sure.

Hammond having a high ankle sprain makes the continued decision to use Izzy on kick returns completely ridiculous.

Pitt two deep:

https://pittsburgh.rivals.com/news/new- ... s-and-more

Lists several guys as starting or a top reserve that haven't played in a while (Wayne Hayes baldonado alexandre Hammond among others). I expect none of these guys to play, and perhaps even some of the healthy guys to be missing because they were conscripted into the Russian Army or something

Your pitt panthers are 22 point favorites against the Rambling wreck of Georgia Tech.

GT just fired its head coach. They are bad. But 22 point underdogs bad? I dont know about that. I also dont know why I’m going to be awake past midnight to watch a game that pitt is supposed to win by 22 points.

Unfortunately for pitt fans, this might be another game that nard dog just kinds of grinds out with a mix of uninspired play calling and very few chances to show how good pitt is/can be.

Hopefully Slovis is able to do more than he did against RI. Hopefully no one gets hurt.

I might be more interested to hear what you chuckle heads are doing with your free time during the day

Either decorating for halloween, or going to nieces/nephews baseball/softball games if they aren't cancelled because of the rain.
