Not really surprised by V Davis transferring out. Peak mentioned on a recent podcast and said he may likely transfer someplace closer to home for him. Peak usually doesn't mention roster rumors unless he's fairly certain about it. By all accounts Davis was a solid teammate and I don't think ever lacked for effort. I hope he goes to someone not on Pitt's 2023 schedule and lights it up.

2023 RB Depth chart:
Hammond
D. Davis (is this like six straight seasons with a Davis at RB?)
C'Bo (was supposedly hurt for the Sun Bowl)
TJ Harvison (incoming freshman, enrolling in January)
Montravius Lloyd (incoming freshman, not here until August)

There's also practice/camp-legend-but-forgotten-on-Saturdays Daniel Carter. I'll stop waiting for that happen because it's not going to. He seems to love being at Pitt and he seems to be perfectly fine with his role at FB/H-Back, so I don't think he's looking to transfer. He's never going to break any big runs, but he seldom loses yardage. That last part I thought would be particularly relevant, especially when you get in those 4th-and-1 attempts from midfield late in the Sun Bowl when you should just have your QB under center, but hey, Frankie Cigs would rather run a stupid RPO out of a pistol/shotgun formation there.

(I'm being sarcastically over-critical here because of my never-ending overvaluation of the fullback position. I actually thought Cignetti called a decent game in the Sun Bowl.)

Bad Davis started ruining our lives in 2017. We're heading into our 7th Davis'd season.

A 23 year old kangaroo was most definitely sitting on his ass watching all of those games on 12/20/07

I remember the Pitt game. Not so much the other two. But like the kangaroo, I'm sure I watched all 3. It was also a week before the first date with my wife.

I remember watching that at the Fox&Hound on McKnight. Willie Parker broke his leg in the STeelers game. Outside of that, that was an awesome night.

It hasn't been formally announced yet by player and/or coach, but it sounds like Pitt finally landed a wideout in the portal. From what Peak is mentioning on PL, Florida transfer Daejon Reynolds is enrolled at Pitt and on campus. Supposedly he's going to announce it soon.

Pretty good write-up on Reynolds here.
https://www.gatorcountry.com/feature/da ... eback-kid/

This is why I love Panther Lair. He was on campus for a visit a couple of weeks ago and was with Duzz, Jurkovec, and some of the other coaches at the hoops game. Some of the PL loons looked at the photos and started criticizing him because they thought "he looked bored", but the article above casts some light on his demeanor:
“He’s one of the most driven kids I’ve ever coached,” Wofford said...“When the college coaches would come in, a lot of the times it’s like some used car salesman kind of thing, and they would come in and crack jokes. He doesn’t mess around like that. He wants to know ‘What are you trying to tell him?’ So, he wouldn’t laugh at the jokes and stuff they would try to do, and I would have to explain to them ‘Look, this is him. This is it. He’s not that joke around kind of guy. He’s a strictly business kind of kid,’
He had 30 P5 offers as a recruit. He was listed at 6'2", 204 on Florida's roster in 2022. Last year he posted 11 receptions for 244 yards and 2 TDs. Most of that came against Vandy (8 for 165, 2 TDs).

There are supposedly some questions about his speed but we'll have to wait and see. Jared Wayne wasn't a burner, either, and he produced last year despite some absolutely a$$tastic QB play. The article says he's more of a body-position guy than a speed demon, and I'm fine with that.
One area his work ethic manifests itself is in the weight room. He can squat lift 500 pounds and bench 300 pounds, according to Wofford. Those are usually figures associated with linemen.
Word is that he's also a solid blocker and while he's obviously here to catch the ball, in this offense it doesn't hurt to be able to block. There were a few times this year that Izzy broke off some longer runs thanks to good blocking by the wideouts, particularly by Bub Means.

We'll wait and see. Word is they're still looking around in the portal and look to add at least one more wideout, likely after spring ball wraps up and another wave of portal additions hit.

Nice. Another WR and some TE support behind Bartholomew would be nice. LB is always a question for me as well.

This would be the type of bad loss this team needs to avoid if they want to make the tournament.
