Van Meter is still a clown who shouldn't be on the roster.

15K on 27 outs.

Cruz made a very similar play as this late in some shittay Saturday night game i was at. Maybe it was the yinzerpalooza game when the Clark’s played. He did the same slide, expect it was about 10-15 feet farther into the outfield. He popped up and threw and ABSOLUTE piss missile to first base, chest high, no arc whatsoever. It wasn’t nearly in time to get the runner out because the ball was hit kind of softly, but still, the range, and most notably, his arm, was genuinely eye popping. A normal human would take four bounces to get the ball there. There were still a lot of people at the game, but barely anyone was paying attention. Those who were paying attention applauded it. Some guy even gave a standing ovation.

One of the few reasons why i still pay $$$ to go to these stupid ass games is because of players like those.

Dumb. There's nothing wrong with what's happening right now. Painful but we all expected it

They are just running metrics on their columns and social media posts to determine what takes are getting the most engagement.

I think it was probably back when 1250 went off the air, and then the Fan showed up to fill that sports talk void, and shortly into the Fan's first round of hosts, that I dawned on me how these people don't know anything about sports.

The media stinks. Do anyone think any of these guys actually watch games?

I loved listening to Stan Savaran on 970AM. He may have been a bit boorish, but the guy knew his stuff and stayed on topic. The Fan ruined everything.

Winning is low on the list of priorities at the major league level in this lost season. They're being conservative with injuries and prioritizing playing time for younger players that they either want to gain experience, or evaluate. (Except of course the Josh Van Meter conundrum...)

I dont understand the issue...

Yeah they should let hayes and bednar play through pain so they can finish 5 spots out of the wild card instead of 8

No but they could have Roansy up and maybe spend a few dollars on another starting pitcher so watching games isn't physically painful

It’s amazing how much goodwill the team would achieve for simply trying to be better next year.

They have learned a lot this year, and I would argue accomplished a few things, mostly in relation to locking in some short to medium started and bullpen guys. Guys like suwinski, Chavis and Mitchell look like future platoon guys. Castillo and Marcano look like adequate utility guys as well. But the short term holes on offense are large (2 corner of, 1B and DH)

3B is an offensive hole as well.

How many of those platoon guys are good enough to platoon on a playoff caliber team?

Suwinski for sure, power is valuable. Mitchell maybe.

Chavis, admittedly, I haven't been paying attention for a while, didn't realize that he actually stinks.

Suwinski isn't even good enough for the 2022 pirates though, apparently

Of the potential platoon guys, I do agree that suwinski will probably be the most likely to succeed.

I hope he stays in the minors tho because this axe grinding by the ulfster is one of the better recurring themes on 5af recently

ulf would rather see Suwinski strike out over Van Meter striking out and I don't blame him.
