Brought his ERA below 4.

It was 6.61 in mid may
That's a hell of a run. Glad he seemed to figure things out. This franchise desperately needs it.

Oh boy, a 12 game SS that will most likely bring on calls of despair when he's not on the roster April 1.

I mean, considering the collection of guys that the Pirates broke camp with this season, the Cruz anger was completely justified. Bae is not going to be clearly superior to anyone I don't think. I'm pretty sure his best position in 2B, he's added some power, but he looks more like a slap hitter to me, so he tops out as a leadoff guy that's gets on base at a decent clip and plays a non-premium defensive position.

Long way of saying his ceiling is a marginally better Kevin Newman with the slight threat of him getting deported for domestic disputes

You don't need 9 stars. You do need 9 decent players. If bae is a decent player I'm happy

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that more than one pitcher has thrown at Bae intentionally at some point as a minor leaguer

The league as a whole is hitting 243. Cruz's power isn't going away any time soon. If he is just a 220 hitting with prodigious power, he can contribute to a playoff team. Imo his floor is 200 with prodigious power, which is still an mlb player.

But in order for the pirates to actually be good, he needs to be more than just a playoff contributor

Was just browsing some box scores today. Cruz’s slugging percentage and 700+ ops puts him in line with hitters across the league. In a world where jd Martinez has like a 770 ops, we can take cruz with a 730 and a bunch of home runs playing SS.

There just aren’t many guys really hitting well in the environment (not sure what the league is doing to the baseballs). This also puts the down seasons from reynolds and Hayes into perspective. Their numbers aren’t good, but they are solid, above average guys right now.

All goes to say, assuming they keep reynolds, they have some pieces in place. I like Castro too, I think he should own the 2B job and then you have the potential for endy and Davis to graduate in 2023.

Altoona has gonzales and peguero (long way to go) plus Josh bissonnette and Andres alvarez (two nobodies).

Indy has literally nobody. Park, van Meter, drew Maggi lol.

Pirates have Castro, cruz, and bae, plus Castillo and Newman.

Basically no more than 5 potential MLB starters in that group.

Second night of Pirates ball. Anyone looking for a Doug Drabek bobble head? Cause that was tonight’s promo.

Let the dreams begin with Oviedo. Would be quite a boon stealing this dude from the cards and "outsmarting" them bringing him back as a starter
